about getting my workout done... then I came home and immediately got assigned an extra 25kg arm workout.

Who needs weights when you’ve got a kid who thinks your arm is a jungle gym?

The gym builds the muscle, but motherhood really puts it to the test.

Anyone else finding winter a little harder?

I’ve been feeling run down lately and ended up skipping my usual weekend gym sessions. In my head, missing a couple of workouts means I’m instantly losing all my muscle (I know that’s not how it works, but the thought still creeps in 😂).

The colder weather has me craving all the comfort foods and making it much harder to get my daily steps in. Between feeling a bit under the weather and lacking motivation, staying on track definitely feels more challenging this time of year.
Instead of throwing in the towel, I’m focusing on the things I can control. I’ve still been meal prepping my Shape Up lunches for the week, starting my mornings with my Collagen Co breakfast shakes, and I’ve just invested in a walking pad that’s arriving next week so I can get those steps in without freezing outside.

Progress doesn’t always look like smashing PBs at the gym. Sometimes it’s just doing your best to stay consistent through the harder seasons.

Here’s to surviving winter one step at a time!

Pretty sure it was January about three loads of laundry ago.

Time flies when you’re cooking meals nobody asked for, cleaning things that were clean five minutes ago, and wondering what’s for dinner while you’re still making lunch.

Today marks 1 year since Jaxson was hospitalised with ketosis and diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.

One whole year of learning, adjusting, carb counting, alarms, sleepless nights, and managing this 24/7… all while trying to let a 6-year-old still just be a 6-year-old.

Some days we feel like we’ve got it under control, other days we are still figuring it out as we go. But looking back at where we started, I’m so proud of how far Jax has come this past year.

But today apparently cannot just be about Jax… because Brett decided he hasn’t had enough attention lately, so he’s having knee surgery today to hopefully regain some muscle movement 😂

So, as always, another busy day for the Smiths.

Apparently someone in our family is legally required to get sick every time the weather changes. And when that someone is Jaxson, it turns into constant glucose checks, numbers going up and down like a rollercoaster, me aggressively refreshing Dexcom every 4 minutes and a little ✨extra anxiety✨ added to my already existing problems.

So currently balancing mum life, gym life, no sleep and surviving on coffee… but at least I found this $3.24 I AM GIA hoodie at the opshop which honestly feels like compensation for my struggles

Jaxson’s never too far away when the camera comes out… and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Congrats to Sarah Anesbury and her mum Sue on the opening of their exhibition Nests, Wings & Wild Things at Bremerton Wines. Such a beautiful collection and so special seeing so much creativity and talent on display. Was lovely to head down, support them and soak it all in.
