She has years of experience working with metal and glass, and has been leading jewellery workshops for three years, helping participants of all skill levels create unique, meaningful pieces. Shirley’s artistic practice explores transmigratory experiences, holistic healing, and meditative processes. Her art practice spans jewellery, installation, performance, video, and audio, often reflecting on her upbringing in a traditional Chinese patriarchal family and her evolving feminist awareness as an Asian immigrant. Shirley holds a Master of Design (Contemporary Art) from the University of South Australia and a Bachelor of Arts in Jewellery & Accessories from Middlesex University, England. She is the recipient of numerous prestigious awards, including the Adelaide Fringe Best Workshop & Talk Award (2025), Pilchuck Glass School Scholarship (2024), and Brighton Jetty Emerging Artist Award (2022). She was also a finalist for the Fuse Glass Prize (2022) and the MilanoVetro-35 (2020).
