3 year old’s sleep can be challenging due to developmental stages especially the “push back” these little ones show around bedtime. They need connection with their parents, sleep during the day, good overnight sleep, good nutrition and support around their big emotions.

They are also experiencing big changes in most cases such as:

-new sibling arrival

-transitioning into a big bed

-dropping their day nap

-dropping the dummy

-starting kindergarten or childcare

If we avoid these 3 common mistakes we will have a smoother experience as we help our little one’s navigate any of these changes ensure a good night’s sleep for everyone in the family!

5 reasons why Sleep School doesn’t work🤷‍♀️

It fails to address all these elements that need to be aligned to solve any sleep Issue you’re experienving⬇️:

1)Optimal Sleep environment (what your child is wearing for day/night sleep, room set up, warmth, dark)
2) Focus is on tired signs instead of awake times which means short naps and unnecessary crying

3) Fails to enhance emotional connection to your child in their sleep space/throughout the day to avoid needing as much support overnight

4) No gradual withdrawal/reduction of support which means cold turkey and unnecessary crying

5)No education for what’s next! No knowledge
give about how to navigate regressions, sleep during illness and teething and changes in sleep routine as your child ages.

It misses the mark on all the significant elements which are necessary for good baby and toddler sleep. This is why SO many of the families I work with come to me for sleep despite 1-3 visits to sleep school! 😝
