8 days ago I ran a full marathon 🏃🏻♀️
Yes 42km.
42 crazy kilometres 🤪
A bloody long way.
I really wanted a sub 4hr time.
But at 25km in with a double stitch under both lungs (& myself walking at this stage) I actually was telling myself “it’s ok Jewels - let’s call it a day. You’re too sore. Too done. This isn’t fun anymore”.
Your followers will respect the decision.
Your family will understand.
You have nothing to prove.
Except I did.
To me.
And I was fooling myself into thinking I wouldn’t have cared if I didn’t finish but bloody hell I wasn’t in my frontal thinking brain … I was in “transition labour brain - I’m not pushing this baby out anymore type thinking”.
It’s not by accident that my girlfriend who’s a midwife was the one to talk myself down at this stage 🥹 Yep I’m on the phone pleading for her to tell me it’s ok to give up. She knew I’d hit the “runners wall” & was spiraling.
She was like Jewels - “you’ve come too far. You’re finishing this. It’s ok for it to hurt. Acknowledge it girl, embrace it & try work with this pain. You’ve got this”.
Far out she was pretty much telling me to surrender & keep rolling. Damn. I wanted out lol
At the time I think I just managed “Ok I’ll try” but her words did something.
They validated where I was.
They didn’t let me get off so easily.
She knew I needed this support.
Kylie seriously thank you 🙏🏻 wish we had got a photo at the finish together.
She was one of my “doulas” to look after me last week during that run. (I’ll share my other angel in a future post)
I know SO MANY of you have followed my running journey. Thank you for the support & excitement.
Next up - Melbourne Marathon Nov 2024 🫡
(Crazy stupid maybe but I’m turning 40 this year so going all in on life!)
Ps. I bring a lot of the mindset work I do to my birth clients. It’s so similar. You don’t need to be a runner. I just need a tiny spark of I want to have a crack at this birth thing jewels 😉😉 and I got you.
Final positions for 2024 being finalised- email is best 💗
