Cooleman Court Weston ACT 5yrs. Spice Island Design was founded in 2003 and specialises in fair trade, local designers and sustainable natural fiber clothing. Our boutique specialises in Tani Tencel/Modal clothing designed in Melbourne and made from sustainable beech tree fabric from Austria, and possum and merino clothing imported from New Zealand. We also stock Samunnat polymer clay jewellery from a women's cooperative in Nepal, and resin jewellery by local designer Polka Luka. We commission unique sterling silver and pearl jewellery by family craftspeople in Bali and Lombok.

I suppose you thought I'd shut up shop,
but in fact I have been travelling a lot the past few years (while I'm still "young" and able).
I got a lot of wear from my Tani, as did my travelling buddy. TANI Elbow Tees and 3/4 Sleeve Swings (no longer made) proved great for layer dressing flying into warmer climes.

My own brand (Spice Island Design) Cotton Batik 3/4 Sleeve Tops with colourfast good quality cotton, hand printed for me in Bali. These have good coverage over the rump, side slits to allow movement, a feature around the neck to strengthen. A high neck and three quarter sleeve for protection from the sun. No need to iron. Just hang on the line.

Finally my invaluable Batik Rayon Voile (rayon is a natural fiber) 3/4 Sleeve Tops.
Light and very feminine, again good coverage back and front, flattering on with good coverage around the neck. Put a wrap or scarf around it to dress it up and for air conditioning. Wash and wear. Colourfast. Dries quickly in a bathroom when travelling, and light to pack.
