A little showcase of just a few hand-fabricated treasures that are patiently waiting to meet their soulmates. ✨

Behind the scenes lately, I’ve been working on creating designs for the Aurora Collection, fulfilling orders as they come through, preparing for market season, and enjoying as much of Spring as I possibly can. I keep forgetting to post on the gram, but I have a few things coming up that I can’t wait to share! 🦋

Spring is finally here around my studio, and I’ll celebrate my favourite season in the best way I know how. So many of my creations feature gems filled with shimmer and colour, but no collection does this quite like Aurora. Every two years or so, I crave the chance to work with rainbows, and so Aurora has become a regular return for Gem & Tonik; a magical revisiting of whimsy, colour and life bursting from silver and stone. 💎🌈🌸

Inspired by the shifting colours of a twilight sky, the wings of butterflies and faeries, the bursts of pink and purple in my garden, and the sparkling prisms of colour that dance through crystals and water, Aurora has always been a collection incredibly dear to my heart.

I’ve spent over a year searching for the perfect gems for this next installment. Aurora is a celebration of where nature and a little modern-day alchemy come together, featuring Moonstone, Quartz and ethically sourced Opals alongside Angel Aura Quartz, slices of Red Jasper and Aurora Opals beneath faceted Moonstone or Himalayan Quartz.

I’ve also been experimenting with something new: little butterfly accents crafted in fine silver. What better way to pay tribute to the beauty of Spring than by bringing some of its most delicate creatures to life? If all goes well, these little darlings will adorn some of Aurora’s more detailed pieces, alongside plenty of simple, dainty designs. 🦋

This time, I’ll be following my intuition and allowing the gems to guide what I create. The pieces shown here are a glimpse into Aurora’s palette rather than a blueprint, and while I’m hoping to create at least 20 designs, I’ll be allowing the collection to reveal itself as I go, following it for as long as it feels right.

A little explanation of the mini passion-project that I’ve been working on in between orders lately. 🧚🏽‍♀️

At this current moment in time, The Little Talismans Collection features 18 Made to Order pendants in a variety of beautiful, ethically-sourced crystals and shapes. Each will hang from a hand-forged sterling silver bail and an adjustable cord made from organic cotton, making them a lovely little treasure to gift yourself or a loved one without compromising on materials or craft. 💎🔨🔥

So far, The Little Talismans Collection is a bit of a trial project, as I wanted to explore a way I could offer something handcrafted at a more accessible price. There’s currently 3 of each pendant available on my website, with the exception of a few that have already sold. My hope for the collection is that The Little Talismans might become a Gem & Tonik staple, as I continue to search for more beautiful crystals and ways I can craft them into pieces suitable for gifts and everyday wear.

My work days are a little slower than they were last month. Still hours spent at my work bench creating rings for orders. Still polishing, packing and posting. Still Winter, with the portable heater humming by my feet. Still searching for the perfect gems. Still dreaming and planning my next few passion projects.

It’s been five weeks since Frostmere melted from the ice for its debut. So many pieces from the collection have found their homes, but many are still waiting for theirs.

Here’s a little throwback to just before the Solstice, so you can either revisit these Winter jewels, or meet them for the first time.

The Winter Solstice may have come and gone, but the cold here seems determined to linger a little while longer. What better way to embrace the season than adorning your fingers with jewels inspired by snowfall, frozen lakes and misty skies? ❄️

These little treasures are all part of the Frostmere collection, and each is still waiting to fall in love with its forever home. Every piece is entirely one of a kind, hand-fabricated from start to finish using recycled sterling silver and some truly incredible, ethically sourced gems.

Frostmere is now live, and 30 new creations are sparkling away on my website until they meet a soulmate to bring them out from the cold. Each is entirely one of a kind, inspired by the beauty and magic of Winter, and hand-fabricated from start to finish using ethically sourced gems and recycled silver.

What a joy this collection was to work on. From the first inception of the idea to the final polish, Frostmere has been both the hardest I’ve worked in such a short space of time and the most fulfilled I’ve felt from an intuitive passion project. I truly hope you’ve enjoyed seeing it come to life.

As for the Winter Solstice, here is my blessing to you:
May the longest night bring you warmth, peace and wonder. May you find beauty in stillness, magic in small moments, and comfort in the places and people that feel like home. As the wheel turns and the light begins its return, may your heart remain open to all that is waiting to be discovered. 🤍

The shortest day of the year creeps closer, and my studio is draped in darkness more often than it is light. Winter holds this little part of the earth in its tight embrace, and her beauty spills from beneath her arms across everything nearby. ❄️

For the first time in a few years, I’ve found the cold more comforting, more whimsical, more delicate, and more awe-inspiring. Perhaps it’s because I’m reflecting on her more now that I’m working on a collection in her honour. Or perhaps I simply needed an opportunity to stop and truly see how splendid the season can be when viewed with an open heart.

I shared my favourite part of the creating process a few days ago, and thought I’d share a little more of it once again. When a piece has been forged, cleaned, sanded, oxidised and polished, she’s then ready to meet the gem she was built for. With Frostmere, the silver gods were on my side, and I was lucky enough to avoid any mistakes that would stop a stone from fitting where she belonged. I spoke previously about it always being a nervous process, but when everything works and a stone settles into her setting just right, there’s a certain kind of magic in it.

There’s more to be done once the video stops. Hand tools are used to curve the edges of the silver around the sides of each crystal. More sanding, more polishing, more testing for durability and comfort. But it’s a little insight into the workings of hand-fabricated designs. I hope it can bring even a fraction of the satisfaction it brings me.

All these pieces (and so many more) are part of Frostmere, a collection of hand-forged jewels inspired by the magic and beauty of Winter. They will be available tomorrow as the sun sets on the Solstice, which is 5pm AEST here in this small corner of the planet.
