The Inconceivable Update:
The Inconceivable Blanket!!

10 rows off half way and this is all the yarn I have left... and that doesn't even take in to account the border.

To say my maths was off is definitely an understatement. But luckily I chose yarn that is still readily available!

Off to Spotlight I go!

Finishing Touch Fair Isle Friday!

66 hours, 35 minutes... and 2 seconds!

This was a really fun one! And when I say fun, I mean somewhat frustrating and just challenging enough that I wasn't going to let it beat me!

My husband requested a full pattern Fair Isle vest, which was something I was feeling inspired to attempt after his Fair Isle Jumper.

We couldn't find a pattern that we absolutely loved, so we found a vest that we liked and then designed the motif and chose the colours. Because, as it turns out... you can do that, like, there's no rules saying you can't and no one can stop you!!

I also went against the pattern slightly by knitting in the round, instead of separate panels.

Equipped with some of the softest acrylic yarn I have ever encountered and a 3.5mm crochet hook, I have just made my first ever crochet garment!

I am absolutely thrilled with how the finished product turned out, sure there are a few things that could be improved, but all in all, after over 60 hours of work, I love it!

The pattern was so well written and easy to follow, and there was a YouTube tutorial that I probably watched more times than I'd care to mention.

So I'm just going to go ahead and call it.

I have just pulled off the greatest fluke in the history of ever!

I have had Vogue Pattern V1735 for a while now. Ever since I saw PixelQuilt showcase hers, I have wanted to make one too.
(Quick side note, if you haven't yet, do yourself a favour and check out her page(s). Absolutely phenomenal human being that creates beauty consistently and sourdough that will have you drooling as though you can smell it through the internet).

So today I was having a wander around Spotlight, checking out the sales, as you do, seeing if there was any Fabric that would jump out at me. And, BOY, did it?!

Now to the best part, thanks to the sale that's on at the moment and some gift cards/vouchers that I have recently accumulated I was able to walk away with 5m of this beautiful Rayon fabric for $0!

Sometimes, you make something as a teenager, and absolutely love the colours. But don't like how the finished product looks on. (I swear this thing looked better on the model in the picture?!)

Then, years later... you decide its time to make something actually wearable from the yarn. So you frog it entirely, straighten out the curls, cake it and start again!

Approximately 27 hours later and here we have it! A cute little striped dress that my husband says looks like a roll of Lifesaver lollies and my daughter was adamant she didn't want to try on and then didn't want to take it off. I call that a success!!

Although, I might also add that I made the "6 years" size for my 4 year old in the hopes that there would be some growing room in it... I guess time will tell how that actually pans out.

Yarn: Bendigo Woollen Mills
Pattern: adapted from Patons Classic Totem Book 1301; Girl's Striped Dress

Something a little different! Or, as I really wanted to say... And now for something completely different!

I always love learning new skills and honing old ones!

Learning to use the Punch & Shear Machine was great and surprisingly meditative... there is simply no room to be thinking about anything other than the task at hand (and trying not to lose a hand).

I haven't spray painted since I was an apprentice over a decade ago, but it was just like falling off a bike, muscle memory just takes over!

The added bonus of this is that the job got done over the course of a few days meaning that it definitely satisfied my current need for an instant gratification project... now, if I could only find one that fit on the couch with me 😅

A quick little throw together Bunny for my daughter for Easter!

This took me somewhere between 2-3 hours at a guess. It would have been quicker and smoother to come together if I had used the correct needles that were all the same size. I also altered the pattern slightly for this reason (the Bunny is legless, poor thing).

Sometimes "near enough is good enough" really is good enough, especially when it comes to instant gratification projects.

This has got to be my longest running project. It took me 8 years to complete it. Technically with a 7.5 year gap in the middle there...

This is the first time I have taken a huge break from something and actually come back to finish it and I love it!

This is actually where my "1 project at a time" rule stemmed from.
