At first glance, this ring is all about the magnificent Illinois State Seal.
But turn it over and there is another surprise.
Inside the ring is the original spoon bowl, still carrying its detailed image of the Illinois State Capitol building.
That hidden detail is exactly why I love working with vintage silver.
I could polish away every trace of its earlier life — but then much of what makes the piece extraordinary would disappear with it.
Instead, I shape the silver around its story.
The eagle, shield, lettering and architecture that once decorated an Illinois souvenir spoon now form a bold, sculptural ring.
Even the details you may only see when you take it off are still there.

Because sometimes the most interesting part of a piece of jewellery is the part almost nobody else sees.

A little piece of Illinois history, given a new life.
This striking ring began as an authentic vintage Illinois sterling silver souvenir spoon, made by the Sterling Silver Manufacturing Company during the early decades of the twentieth century.
The outside of the ring preserves the beautifully detailed Illinois State Seal, complete with its eagle, shield and original lettering.
But turn it over and there’s another piece of the story waiting inside.
The spoon bowl carries a finely detailed image of the Illinois State Capitol building, now hidden within the ring — a wonderful reminder of what this piece once was.
Rather than removing those original details, I’ve carefully shaped the spoon around them, allowing the history of the silver to become part of the finished jewellery.
Hand-shaped, refined and polished in my Adelaide Hills studio, it is now ready for another chapter.

Available now — a little piece of 1919. 🌹
This one-of-a-kind Hildesheim Rose spoon ring began life as an antique German silver spoon dating to 1919.
Made from 835 silver, the original spoon carries an intricate Hildesheim Rose design. Rather than losing those details during its transformation, the roses, leaves and stems now flow around the finger as part of the finished ring.
The Hildesheim Rose has long been associated with resilience and renewal, making the story behind this old piece of silver particularly meaningful.
More than a century after it was made, it has been carefully reshaped and finished by hand in my Adelaide Hills studio, ready to begin another chapter.

Look a little closer......

It’s when you turn this ring around that its story really begins to reveal itself.
This 1919 Hildesheim Rose spoon ring hasn’t simply had a floral decoration added to it. The flowers and leaves you see are part of the original antique spoon.
As I shaped the silver into a ring, the old pattern began to wrap around the finger — a large unfolding rose at the front, smaller floral details to one side and beautifully textured leaves and stems continuing around the band.
I’ve kept the deeper areas of the original design darker rather than polishing every surface completely bright. That contrast helps reveal the tiny lines, petals and textures that have survived for more than a century.
And that is one of the things I love most about working with old silver.
I’m not trying to make it look new.
I want you to see that it has already had a life.
Now it’s ready for another.

A little piece of 1919, given a new life.
This one-of-a-kind ring began as an antique German 835 silver spoon, decorated with the beautiful Hildesheim Rose motif.
Rather than removing the original detail, I shaped the spoon so that its roses, leaves and flowing stem become the design of the ring itself. Look closely and you can still see all those tiny textures — the folds of the petals, the veining of the leaves and the darkened recesses that give the old silver so much character.
The Hildesheim Rose takes its name from the legendary rose growing against Hildesheim Cathedral in Germany. The rose survived the destruction of the cathedral during WWII and flowered again as the cathedral was rebuilt, becoming an enduring symbol of resilience, hope and renewal.
There seems to be something especially fitting about taking a silver spoon made in 1919 and allowing it to begin another chapter more than a century later.

A warm and earthy one-of-a-kind pendant, handmade in sterling silver.

This Ocean Jasper Sterling Silver Pendant Necklace features a teardrop stone with golden ochre tones and soft green orb-like markings. The patterning is beautifully natural, giving the pendant a calm, organic feel.

The setting has been handcrafted from 100% sterling silver, including the bezel, twisted wire detail, three decorative silver balls and back plate. It has been carefully finished and polished to frame the stone while keeping its natural beauty at the centre.

The pendant measures approximately 4cm x 2.5cm at its widest part and is finished on a 55cm sterling silver 1mm curb diamond cut chain.

Some stones feel like they hold a little world inside them.

This Ocean Jasper pendant has the most beautiful earthy palette — golden ochre, mustard and deep olive green, with natural orb-like markings that give the stone its quiet, organic character.

I wanted the silverwork to frame the stone without overpowering it, so I created a sterling silver bezel with twisted wire detail and three small decorative silver balls at the top. The back plate is also sterling silver, making the pendant 100% sterling silver.

It hangs from a 55cm sterling silver 1mm curb diamond cut chain, a lovely length for wearing over linen, soft knits or simple everyday layers.
