Every Nicole Winkler commission begins with a drawing — hand-rendered to scale, every angle considered, every detail deliberate. Pencil first, then gouache, until the design is exactly right. When your ring is finished and on your finger, a signed fine art print of the original drawing is yours to keep.

I will be in Brisbane for three days of private appointments and I would love to meet you in person.

What a special remodel this was! Juliet had been following me on Instagram for years and got in contact about remodelling her diamond engagement ring. She and Nick had been together for over 10 years and the simple six claw setting that had been perfect for them with the were first engaged wasn’t representative of who they are now. Juliet still loved her diamond but wanted a bolder more dramatic ring.

I often speak to my clients who are thinking about remodelling in terms of renovating a home you’ve had for years. In the same way as your taste in kitchen design or interior decorating changes over time, so does your taste in jewellery. Similarly we need to think about budget on remodelling in the same way as renovating. We may have the centre stone but we still need to add new materials, employ the tradespeople (jewellers, setters, designer!) and customise it to you and your dreams.

Juliet had spotted a design that I’d presented another client with but we hadn’t gone ahead with and fell in love with it for herself. We added a halo of teal parti sapphire baguettes and pave’ diamond rays with delicate vintage inspired milgrain. We also tucked a little hidden pink sapphire underneath the centre setting.

Mother’s Day is not a simple day for everyone.
For some it is pure joy. For others it is a day grief and longing. For some it is both at once — celebrating the mother you are while missing the one you lost.
I lost my mother young, and the road to becoming a mother myself was long and challenging.
So today, whatever this day holds for you, I am thinking of you.
To the mothers who are celebrated today — I hope you feel it fully.
To those who are missing their mother — I hope the memories are kind and your wrapped up with love.
To those still on the journey to motherhood, in whatever form that takes — I salute you.
To those for whom today is simply hard — you are not alone in that.
