Beautiful day for a ring recovery indeed!!!

Huge shoutout to Joe for lending me his boat and being my skipper for the day. Without his help this wouldn't have been an easy or successful mission. Also to my wife Emma for being my dive crew and videographer for the day.

So glad I could get the clients ring back to them as it had huge sentimental value.

Accurate location information can mean the difference between a successful recovery or not.

A GPS mark from a boat was only 20 ft away from the location of the lost ring yesterday. This makes my job much easier and gives you a better chance of being reunited with your precious item.

Using pin drops on Maps on your phone is also a great way to help me pinpoint the location to start the search.

"Find a penny, pick it up, and all day long you'll have good luck!"

It never ceases to amaze me where we can find an old coin.

Random stretch of beach on the Mornington Peninsula. Very difficult to access by foot. Crazy spot to find an old Roo Penny.

Find the ring!!!!

Successful ring recovery up in Epping this morning. A gold signet ring that belonged to the clients Grandfather and was handed down and has been in my clients possession for over 50 years.

Ring was lost in a heap of straw mulch whilst gardening and as you can see it would have been almost impossible to find without the assistance of a metal detector.

Had a fantastic first dive search yesterday afternoon. The weather played ball and while we were unsuccessful in locating the target we did get some junk out of the water and we managed to locate a fishing rod and an iPhone.

Here’s where the story gets interesting. I was able to place the sim in an old phone to get the contact details of the owner’s parents. The owner is a young lad who lost his phone whilst having a fishing session.

After arranging the return of the phone I learnt the young lad is new to fishing and he doesn’t have much gear as yet. So I’m donating the rod I found and some squid jigs to the young bloke when I drop his phone off later today. Hopefully that will help him on his way to enjoying fishing for many years to come.

Sometimes a ring recovery is this quick and easy. Total search time was about 3 minutes. What made it so easy is that they knew the exact area it was dropped, making the search very simple.

One of my most memorable ring recoveries was this.

Jane had only recently lost her husband when she also lost their wedding rings off her necklace at a music festival. After spending many hours searching she located one ring but the other was quite elusive.

I had the pleasure of being able to attend and after giving Jane a 5 minute introduction to metal detectors I got her to start the search while I got more gear ready. It was fantastic to see Jane find her own ring shortly after.

Being able to help return a lost ring that held so much meaning and so many wonderful memories after such a loss was extremely special for me.

Jane’s heartfelt thanks was evident in her message to me afterwards:

“My thanks to MPRR. I was able, with Jay's amazing talent, to locate my late husband's wedding ring after losing it off my necklace at a music festival. I am so thankful and grateful we found it. Some things can never be replaced. My eternal gratitude.”
