Recently, Jim Rogers stated that he has sold all the U.S. stocks he owned. According to him, the longest âbull marketâ (a prolonged period of rising stock prices) in American history is now on the verge of collapse.
The national debt of the United States is currently $38.97 trillion.
In his words, âThe end will probably come very soon.â Meaning, the economic structure of the United States could face a major breakdown.
He has repeatedly warned that among all the economic crises he has witnessed in his lifetime, the coming one could be the worst.
He now owns gold and silver and wants to leave them for his children.
Jim Rogers has long been a supporter of gold and silver. He believes that when paper currencies or paper assets lose value, gold and silver become the ultimate safe haven.
He thinks silver is currently much cheaper compared to gold, making it a stronger investment opportunity.
He says, âEverybody should have some gold in their closet and some silver under their bed.â
Jim Rogers is mainly known as a âcontrarian investorâ â someone who goes against mainstream market sentiment. He believes the era of the U.S. dollar is nearing its end, and the future belongs to Asia (especially China and India) and to commodities/natural resources.
He has compared Americaâs more than $38.97 trillion debt to a âtime bomb.â According to Rogers, it is very difficult for any country in history to survive while carrying such enormous debt. Eventually, America may lose the ability to repay it, potentially causing an economic collapse.
Rogers believes the 19th century belonged to Britain, the 20th century belonged to America, and the 21st century will belong to Asia, especially China.
According to him, a collapse in the U.S. dollar and stock market is approaching unlike anything the world has seen in the last 80â100 years. He warned that 2026 could become the most devastating financial crisis of his lifetime.
Rogers believes it could surpass the 2008 financial crisis and become comparable to the Great Depression of the 1930s.
Who is Jim Rogers?
He is famous for investment strategy and market forecasting in the United States. At just 27 years old, in the 1970s, he co-founded the Quantum Fund and reportedly achieved around 4200% profit. In the 1980s, he retired early and traveled the world.
He became widely known in conservative investment circles and for macroeconomic forecasting. Many of his long-term economic predictions proved accurate.
Some of his notable macro forecasts included:
the commodity and gold boom of the 1970s,
Japanâs economic struggles in the 1980s,
the 1989 Nikkei Index crash,
the global commodity supercycle beginning around 1999,
and the 2008 global financial crisis.
Believing that China would eventually lead the world, he moved to Singapore in 1999 so his children could grow up learning Mandarin Chinese. Today, Chinaâs dominance in the global economy is often cited as evidence of his long-term vision.
