In 2023, Australian surfer Matt Cuddihy made an incredible discovery off the coast of Noosa, Queensland—a vintage Rolex Submariner watch, lost beneath the waves for around four years, was still ticking.
The watch wasn’t just any Rolex; it was engraved with “R. Outrim, Presented 1971,” marking it as a deeply personal item for its owner, Ric Outrim, who had lost it back in 2019.
Matt shared a photo of the find online, sparking a heartwarming search that reunited the watch with Ric. The vintage timepiece was later restored by Rolex to its original glory, almost like new again.
