I can’t help but feel like these two are well on their way. I’ve learned a lot being their mama, mostly just how strong I can be when needed. For that I’m thankful every day.

What can I say about 2020 that hasn’t been said by everyone already?

It was challenging and hard, there were tears, anger and moments of hopelessness and frustration. BUT there was a lot of time spent together as a family, a deepening of some of my treasured friendships, lots of commiseration, and truthfully so much laughter at the absurdity of what life has become.

I don’t believe that things are magically resetting now that it’s 2021, but I feel full of hope and honestly that’s what I need most. (That and these three people right here)

❤️weird traditions of hiding ugly angel ornaments at my mums house for her to find
❤️ Big kids who have such amazing friends
❤️ mama sleepovers with friends who are good for my heart
❤️ friends who come over and help make your house beautiful when you’re overwhelmed with the clutter
❤️ friends who bundle up and bring Wayne Gretzky Cream and drink on your porch cause they can’t come inside
❤️ warm pasta dinners
❤️kids who are so flipping excited about the magic of Christmas
❤️ new episodes of the Mandalorian
❤️ clean homes
❤️ killing business goals

‘Twas the night before Kindergarten and all through the house not a creature was stirring...

Except for this mama’s heart.

My littlest little is starting school tomorrow and while she is SO ready and part of me is too...there’s another part of me who is having a mild identity crisis. For the past 7 years I have been a mother of wee ones. I have had a little one at home with me, and soon I won’t. I’m so excited about all the wonderful things that are on the horizon for her: new friends, new experiences and fun. But there’s still that part of me who can’t believe that I am now a mama of big kids.
It’s true what they say, the days are long (sometimes insanely so) but holy crap are those years just so short.

Yesterday was a great day. A very needed total recharge for our fam. We brought groceries to my father in law and took a responsibly distanced hike...it felt amazing.

The change in scenery and time outdoors put us all in a better head space. We rounded out the day with a family hot tub (super relaxing as the girls played Mermaid the whole time 🧜🏻‍♀️), a movie rental with popcorn, and then post kid bedtime we had friends over for a backyard fire.
I’m trying hard to find joy in most days but I’m often struggling trying to find balance between getting work done and being present with the kids. SO thankful for yesterday which will probably be one of the day’s I will look back fondly on from this whole thing.
How are you all holding up? What’s helping you find that recharged feeling? @ Mulmur, Ontario

A few weeks ago the stars were aligned and everything came together seamlessly. I was having an amazing week of balancing work, self care, wife/mum life and the rest of it.

Since then I’ve been struggling to get back to that point, and it’s just not happening. I haven’t been to the gym in almost a week, we have eaten too much KD and I’ve been working every night to keep caught up.

Talk to me about “balance” friends. How do you find that sweet spot where you feel like you’re managing all you have on the go?
