I am so thankful to be able to spend some time at my annual retreat up North. It’s been a little grey, and a little tough - thinking about all sorts of relationships big and small. This week I am feeling fall move in.
It’s beautiful to witness it in this place.

A truly transformational set of stacking rings…

This was such a meaningful project for me, in every way, I am honoured to have been able to design and create these rings for a client, who has become a friend.

She came to me with two white gold wedding bands, wanting me to create a new ring from them. With the theme, and spirit of transformation. She told me the story of his proposal (which involved a strawberry spontaneously transformed to an engagement ring), his illness, and eventually his death with MAiD (medical assistance in dying).

The concept of three rings came to me quite quickly. The design allows the rings to stack in many different ways, so that she can wear them in a multitude of different orientations. Transformation.

The small markings on the the white gold ‘crown’ quote the mille grain on the original wedding bands, and also the strawberry seeds on her engagement ring/strawberry.

These rings took about a year to come to fruition. It seems that everything has its time, and this set of rings is no different. Around the time that I was going to start to carve these rings; Her Mother decided to end her life, also using MAiD. We discussed this, and concluded that I would carve the rings on the day, and in fact, the very moments of her mothers’ death. The rose gold ‘crown’ also contains gold from a broach that belonged to her Mother.

These are rings that hold a world of meaning.

Tumbling down the the River.

A very special birthday gift to herself, that marks milestones.

Drawn to the smooth, polished shapes of river rocks, and compelled to collect them – my client wanted to keep their energy and flow close. Always. We designed this ring to incorporate these special elements.

Very appropriately, we met and continue to joyously meet serendipitously, along the Humber River. A magical project, in so many ways.

Weston rocks!
I just came in from a walk along the beautiful Humber River, where I ran in to my ring (and it’s delightful wearer ; ) on her bike.
This weekend was filled with community, in this beautiful place, with these beautiful people in Weston.
I am taking it as a sign to dip my toes back into this platform, and share my work with you again.

I truly value community, and I have missed this more digital, and wide-ranging version of it.
Happy, and thankful to be sharing my work with you again!
