Something that is important to me is showcasing Indigenous women. As a jewelry designer, I have the opportunity to give platforms to other Iskwêw who can bring inspiration to each of us. A few months back I put out a model call for a photoshoot for my pieces. I was absolutely blessed to work with three gorgeous, strong, and impressive women, who made me remember why I got into the Indigenous fashion scene to begin with.

First, there was LaRenn Crosschild, pictured here, who had never done a brand photoshoot before. However, in her application materials, I could not deny the confidence and composure she radiated in her runway walk video, nor could I be anything but impressed by her professionalism and candor in her interview. I knew she would be an amazing ambassador for Katawashishin Beadwork.

There will be many more photos to come, but I would love to highlight each model who helped showcase my artistry in such respectful, careful, and masterful ways. Therefore, I feel that each model deserves their own post to fully acknowledge how appreciative I am of their hard work. LaRenn spent hours outside on a blisteringly cold and windy day, and produced this image which looks effortless, sunkissed, and radiant. This is what Indigenous models bring to the table ❤️
