have you ever seen an opalescent sapphire before?

opalescent sapphires have a soft, milky appearance caused by tiny inclusions within the stone that scatter light. the result is this beautiful, dreamy glow, with subtle shifts of colour as the light moves across the stone.

for this custom engagement ring, i designed a whimsical setting and band to complement the sapphire’s almost otherworldly appearance. something a little unconventional, with just as much personality as the stone itself.

this is one of the rings from our recent heirloom video, and i wanted to show you a little more of its story.

the diamonds came to me from the client’s original ring. we paired them with a new green sapphire, and suddenly they had a whole new personality.

this is what i love about working with stones you already have. something can carry a history without having to stay the same forever.

now these diamonds get to be part of a new story.
