🌱 Happy Norooz 🌱

The first day of spring marks the Iranian New Year—Nowruz. A time of renewal, gathering with loved ones, visiting elders, and sharing joy. It’s a beautiful tradition where elders give freshly printed banknotes to the younger generation as a symbol of blessing and new beginnings.

But this year feels different.

Iranians around the world are mourning the loss of tens of thousands of innocent lives. Instead of joyful visits, many families have gone to cemeteries—to be close to those they’ve lost during what should be a time of celebration.

We still honor Norooz—for its deep roots in our culture, for unity, and for standing by one another. But our hearts are heavy.

We hold on to hope—that this will be the last Norooz under such darkness, and that brighter days are ahead for Iran.

Today is my birthday. I was born in Iran in the 1980s, and my entire life has been lived under the rule of the Islamic Republic , a brutal, plundering regime that has stolen our future.

For us, its legacy has been war, sanctions, poverty, and lost dreams. Owning a home became impossible. Marriage and family became luxuries many could never afford. In a country rich in resources, the people were made poorer every day, while our wealth was drained by corruption and repression.

Today, I will not celebrate. We are mourning tens of thousands of young Iranians slaughtered in recent days, as the killing continues in silence behind an internet blackout.

I hope this is my last birthday under this dark rule.
