Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and it’s always been a complicated time for me.
In full honesty, my relationship with my mother has been fractured for many years, and I know I’m not alone in that reality.

Over time, I’ve learned to shift my focus to the incredible women in my life who love and support me. These are the women who have stepped into that role in their own ways. I’m deeply grateful to belong among them.

My daughter is now a grown woman and my best friend. It still feels surreal that our relationship is so honest, steady, and full of love.

However you experience motherhood, whether you are a mother, hope to be one, choose not to be one, or have taken on that role for someone else, you are seen and appreciated.

Family is who you choose, not only the one you were born into.
