Meet geuda a dull, milky stone that most people would overlook. But in the hands of Sri Lankan gem masters, it holds hidden potential. 🔥
Here’s how it transforms:
1️⃣ Sorting Skilled traders examine each raw stone for the right internal structure and trace minerals that predict a good color change
2️⃣ Heating The geuda is placed in a furnace and heated to 1600–1800°C, close to corundum’s melting point
3️⃣ The science Trace titanium and iron inside the stone react to the intense heat, dissolving the milky “silk” that clouds it
4️⃣ Slow cooling The stone is cooled gradually to prevent cracking and lock in the new color
5️⃣ The reveal What was once a dull grey stone emerges as a brilliant, clear blue sapphire ✨
