:WALPURGISNACHT:
🔥 🧹 🌕
An ancient axis turns.
Walpurgis Night, celebrated on the evening of April 30th into May 1st, is one of Europe’s most enigmatic and folkloric festivals—a liminal night suspended between the fading cold of winter and the awakening pulse of spring. Rooted in ancient pagan traditions and later intertwined with Christian observance, it carries a dual identity: both a night of protection against dark forces and a celebration of renewal, fertility, and fire.

The connection to witches comes mainly from German folklore. During the Middle Ages, people believed that witches gathered on mountaintops—especially at Brocken in Germany—for rituals, dancing, and spiritual gatherings. Villagers lit large fires to protect themselves from evil spirits and to welcome the warmer season.

The true mystery lies in the why.
Why this night?
It is the cosmic counter-balance to All Hallows’ Eve.
The final severing of winter’s death grip before the May Green rises in triumph.

This is the Sabbath. Not of sin, but of sovereignty. It is the revelation of the Witch as the Keeper of the Liminal: she who stood between the village and the wild, between the rigid dogma of the church and the fluid wisdom of the healing root.

The fires kindled tonight are not for warmth! They are beacons. They are the alchemical transmutation of fear into power, of memory into magick.

We walk through the smoke to cleanse the trauma of the bloodline. We honor the thousands of women burned for the capital crime of possessing too much knowledge, of being too free, of being too wild.

Folklore claims the devil dances here. But history knows the truth: It is the Divine Feminine, unchained.
Roaring back from the ashes.
Rising.

New upcoming class! "Aqua Tofana: Women's Poisoning Rings in History". If you love history, true crime, poisons, and supporting women’s wrongs –-this one is for you. This class will investigate different infamous women’s poisoning rings through history from ancient Rome to modern day and discover whether they were feminist antiheroes, nefarious murderesses, or victims of misogyny and scapegoating. A poisoning ring is a group of people who conspire to kill with poison and women-led poisoning rings tend to have the shared purpose of killing abusive or unwanted husbands.

We will cover several female-led poisoning rings that have captured the popular imagination including those of Giulia Tofana (the originator of the famous aqua tofana poison), Gironima Spana, Giovanna Bonnano, Catherine Monvoisin, Marie-Anne de La Ville, Marie-Josephte Corriveau, the angel makers of Nagyrév, and more. We’ll discuss how they became modern feminist antiheroes, what poisons they may have used, what motivations they may have had, and whether the different poison rings were innocent or guilty.

Registration is now open (link in comments).

🌱🔥🌿
𝑯𝒂𝒈𝒔 𝑮𝒖𝒊𝒅𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝑺𝒑𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑪𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈:
Scrub your skin with the dirt from a hollow hill.

Brush your body with raven feathers and the blessings of a million hags gone before who have never given a s**t about the what looks “nice” to others.

Take all the pots and pans out of your kitchen, clean them with black salt, and bring them outside with your spoons and knives. Make a racket to wake up the earth and let the neighbors know that their local hag has woken up from winter slumber.

Water your garden with the tears shed by those suffering from fragile masculinity to help them grow towards their heart instead of their fear.

Stitch up your worn out clothes with the red thread of intersectionality and luck.

Scare the life back into your heart by grinning so loudly in the mirror that you can see every tooth, fang, and monster song gurgling forth from the back of your throat.

Go to a crossroads, turn to the east, and spit three times so that you never forget how to find your way back.

Stain your lips and fingers with the blood of berries.

Braid thorns into your hair and rub rose dust into your eyebrows.

Never say you’re sorry for making it to another spring. Cackle instead and celebrate the ugly bits that have kept you alive.

Lace up your boots with the stories of your ancestors raging against powers they were told were unbreakable but have long turned to dust.

Greet your Witchen kin with right hands grasped, left hand over the heart of the other, foreheads touching. Breath in, breath out. Say, “I fu***ng love you.”

Remember that hags like you grow like weeds and springtime will never be the same.
