This is one of the rare occasions I’m sharing a truly serious photograph of myself.

It was taken just last week with my classmates from jewelry design school. It feels strange to see myself this serious, but it actually reflects my current state of mind quite well.

Turning 31 (WTF), working through grief, managing an increased workload, and trying to wrap my head around all the beautiful things happening at the same time.

Incredibly grateful for the love, family, and friendships that surround me.

The necklace I’m wearing is my final diploma piece, “Building Bridges”, which explores how shared cultural heritage can serve as an invitation for dialogue in times of conflict. I’ll be sharing more details about this personal project soon.

About the piece:

Bitcoin Collier
Messing, Neusilber, Süßwasserperlen, Satinband

Eine übergroße Bitcoin-Münze ersetzt das Zentrum eines klassisch inspirierten Perlencolliers. Die Perlen stehen für die Masse – anonym, gleich und dezentral. Bitcoin als neue Währung symbolisiert die Machtverschiebung vom Staat zur vernetzten Gemeinschaft. Doch das Collier liegt eng am Hals an, das Tragen wird zur Belastung. Das Stück ist eine Reflexion über Kontrolle und Wert und stellt eine kritische Frage: Befreit uns digitale Macht – oder schnürt sie uns nur anders ein?

I started making these 4 years ago when I had just moved to Vienna. Out of boredom, I made one for myself, and soon, more and more friends wanted one too.

But this one is extra special—it’s a symbol of love and celebration, and I’m all for it.
