Thanks for tuning into my word dump.

A constant reminder for anyone who makes things and posts them online. Myself very much included.

Somewhere along the way, social media broke our sense of “enough.” We started measuring the work by the numbers instead of the meaning. This is me trying to unlearn that.

Make things you’re proud of. Let that be enough. The rest is just the cherry. 🍒💕

To this day I am still in awe that I accomplished one of my life dreams, visiting the Yayoi Kusama Yellow Pumpkin sitting at the edge of the Japanese Sea in Naoshima Island. RIP Yayoi Kusama. Ok. Some notes. 📝

On August 13, 2026, Instagram revealed their refreshed wordmark, their first identity update in 10 years. And obviously, it took the internet by storm. (When do people not have opinions right? 😂

Everyone’s got mixed feelings, so naturally, we had to add ours to the mix.

Our honest take? The old wordmark designed by Mackey Saturday was iconic, no argument there. But it never quite paired with the newer gradient mark. The refresh works better as a whole, more win than miss in our book by Instagram’s 📷

The real debate though? That lowercase “r” that reads like a “z.” Everyone is poking at this from all angles. So we ran it through a few other brands to see how far the “z” goes… you’re welcome. ☺️
