rose garden and lush ivy in the secret heart of the Paul Bert flea market in Paris, the studio is charged with an enchanting atmosphere. Sylvie, a state-certified gemologist and member of the French National Syndicate of Antique Dealers, has long been fascinated by the traditions and history of Old Europe. Through her antique dealing, she stumbled upon a stock of rare and precious materials left by some retired Parisian lapidaries.
‘I became a jewelry designer following a fascination for anything beautiful,’ she states, and adds, ‘It occurred to me that a jewelry piece is the smallest object one can wear that also tells stories.’ Each opulent artwork is signed by the artist and registered at the National Industrial Property Institute. ‘My creations follow a poetic exploration, a daydream that directs how the materials will come together. The most joyful experience is when, from my precise drawings, the piece is brought to life by the workshop.’ Sylvie’s collections include Initiated, with signature gold serpent rings; Garden, testimony to her love of the countryside; Emperor, based on imperial insignia; Lilith, her take on secretive and archaic worlds; Music, dedicated to joyful effervescence; and Cruise, an invitation to marine, celestial and terrestrial worlds, in which time is suspended.
