“It was in that moment that she made her decision—the decision that was to lead to such very momentous events.”

The Book Fairies are sharing copies of Sleeping Murder by Agatha Christie across both the UK and the USA today! The fairies are celebrating 50 years since the novel’s posthumous publication, after Agatha had filed it away for over thirty years.

Who will be lucky enough to spot one of these beautiful books today? This copy is hiding somewhere in Wester Inch, Bathgate.

About the book:

A strange house. A ghost from the past. As soon as she moves into Hillside, Gwenda knows there’s something strange about this house. Despite her best efforts to modernize the house, she only succeeded in dredging up its past. Worse, she felt an irrational sense of terror every time she climbed the stairs.

A sealed room. A hidden door. The apparition of a young woman being strangled.
But strangest of all – this all seems quite familiar.

In fear, Gwenda turned to Miss Marple to exorcise her ghosts. Have the two of them dredged up a perfect crime committed many years before?

The killer may have gotten away with murder. But Miss Marple is never far behind.

The Book Fairies are sharing copies of The Last Starborn Seer by Venetia Constantine across the UK today!

Who will use their seer powers to work out where they’re hidden?
This copy is waiting at STARbucks in Heartlands!

About the book:

Leilani Stellarion is cursed.

The last of a ruined bloodline, she’s shunned for her volatile Starborn magic, which grants her prophetic visions but is slowly corrupting her mind. Branded a pariah, Leilani is blamed for the Sickening, a wasting curse that fractured the realms of Arcelia and plunged them into war.

When her dying mother’s health deteriorates and a forced marriage threatens her future, Leilani seizes the chance to reclaim her fate. A prophecy speaks of an ancient relic that could end the Sickening – and she’s determined to find it.

To retrieve the sceptre, she must survive the deadly climb to the Astral Mountain, forge alliances with enemies, outwit rebel forces, and navigate her own treacherous feelings for a rival envoy, which grow under the watchful eye of her betrothed.

Hunted by a vengeful spectre and haunted by her magic, Leilani must decide what she’s willing to sacrifice in the name of redemption – before her powers consume her.

“To every woman who has suffered, been ignored and left to fight this battle alone. I see you.”

Thursday was Publication Day for Evelyn Scott and her book A Bloody Scandal! The Book Fairies were celebrating by sharing copies across the UK…

We're you lucky enough to spot one?
This copy was left somewhere in Stoneyburn, West Lothian.

About the book:

Evelyn was just a teenager when she first began suffering with the symptoms of endometriosis – a reproductive condition that affects one in ten women. For fifteen years, she endured constant, agonising pain. Where she was desperate for clarity and support from medical practitioners, she was instead met with cold dismissals of hysteria and irresponsible misdiagnoses. Her pain left her completely isolated – until sharing her story revealed to her that countless other women were suffering the same fate.
A Bloody Scandal is a personal and shocking account of this gynaecological neglect. Weaving her own experiences with those of women from all across the globe, Evelyn examines the medical, political and educational failures that are causing preventable harm to women with reproductive conditions everywhere. Unflinchingly honest, this book is both a forceful reckoning with broken systems around the world and an urgent call for empathy-led care. Above all, it is a bold, compassionate show of solidarity with the women whose bodies are still being failed today.

The Book Fairies of Scotland were sharing copies of Home Sick by Rhiannon Grist across the country yesterday!

Who will be lucky enough to spot this horror book today?

About the book:

After a violent incident at work, Tamsin goes looking for a fresh start in a remote cottage far away from her old life. Here she could make real friends, find a job she loves, become a whole new person, even.

But the solitary cottage is actually a semi-detached, with only a thin wall separating her from a total stranger. Her neighbour is an enigma. Dowdy one moment, vivacious the next, but always wearing an unnerving smile. Tamsin can’t shake the feeling that there’s something wrong with her, especially when she starts experiencing disturbances in her own home.

As the locals share strange stories about her house, and her barely contained paranoia spirals out of control, Tamsin begins to suspect that the past she was so desperate to escape might never let her go.
