Callie 🩷✨
“Most children diagnosed with PPA2 are only discovered after death — Callie survived.”
Callie went into cardiac arrest when she was just one year old, but she continues to defy all the odds.
After being diagnosed with PPA2, doctors feared she would live with significant brain damage for the rest of her life.
Yet Callie has shown incredible strength, determination, and resilience. Every milestone she reaches is nothing short of a miracle. She truly is defying the odds stacked against her.
PPA2 is an extremely rare genetic condition that can cause sudden cardiac arrest. Many cases are only discovered during post-mortems.
Doctors believe the condition is often missed because:• Many cases result in sudden cardiac death in infants or children.• These deaths can sometimes be recorded as SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) if genetic testing isn’t carried out.
The condition can be triggered by viral illnesses, fevers, alcohol or ethanol in medicines, vinegar, and vanilla extract — things that are incredibly difficult to avoid in everyday life.
There is vital research currently taking place in the Netherlands into PPA2, alongside the incredible work of the Children’s Heartbeat Trust.

For every “Callie” keychain or bracelet purchased, 90% of the proceeds will go directly to Callie’s GoFundMe page to support her mission and help raise awareness of this rare condition.
Last year, Callie’s Army had two teams running in the Belfast Marathon. This year we have four teams — amazing, determined people coming together to raise awareness and funds for two incredible charities.
I’ll link the GoFundMe page below if you’d like to read more about this wee warrior or support a truly meaningful cause 🩷
