Michelle Giles Jewellery Handmade silver jewellery made in my studio in Bournemouth, Dorset. I discovered a passion for silversmithing as a hobby in 2010, before I had my daughter.

After a few years out, I picked up the tools again and simply love loosing myself in my little studio at home, playing around with silver again. This was always supposed to be a hobby but slowly interest in my work has grown and it was suggested that I set up a page and shop to showcase and sell what I make. That was in November 2016 and I haven't looked back! I'm thoroughly loving this hobby and

especially enjoying working on bespoke pieces and commissions. All my work is handmade and unique. I make pendants, earrings, rings and bangles all from fine or sterling silver. I draw inspiration from what's around me and am always looking for new ideas to turn into something wearable.

Back in the studio for the first time in weeks after what has been a bumpy start to 2026. There’s such comfort in returning to the bench, letting my mind wander and settling back into the gentle pace of making. I’ve missed it.

I’ve wanted to work with this faceted labradorite cabochon for ages, and this simple, elegant pendant finally emerged. The backplate picked up its pattern through my Durston rolling mill, and the glorious semi precious stone catches the light with that soft, shifting glow — blues, greens, a little spring magic.

Simple. Stunning. One of a kind.

A little glimpse of what’s been taking shape on my bench lately ✨

One of the changes I’m making this year is moving away from one‑off releases and instead launching small collections through the seasons. It feels like a gentler, more grounded way to create.

This season’s collection will centre around statement stone pieces, each one crafted in recycled eco‑sterling silver and completely unique. I’m slowly building the collection now and will share the launch date very soon. Here are the fiat three pieces… can you guess the stones?

As the year unfolds, I’ll also be creating a mailing list so subscribers can have first dibs on new pieces before they reach the shop.

I’ve been a little quiet this month…

…partly because I’ve been staring sternly at the latest silver price rises and wondering if they might take the hint and calm down. They have not.

So, after a bit of head scratching, number‑crunching and a strong cup of coffee, I’ve made a few small price adjustments to keep things sustainable. More (small) changes will follow…

Meanwhile, I’ve just restocked my shelves at South Coast Makers in Bobby’s in Bournemouth town centre (before and after pictured here). If you haven’t been then do pop along as it’s the most glorious home of many local makers and artisans and packed full of goodness. I have a cabinet there stocked full of new pieces waiting to be claimed.

Any of my silversmith friends tracking the silver price atm and esp this week 👀✨ It’s been wild with huge spikes, sharp drops, and way more volatility than usual.

The price of silver has surged this year, hitting record highs before swinging back this week. Those that know say it’s due to a mix of soaring industrial demand (AI) investor buying, and global uncertainty which has pushed prices to levels we’ve never really seen before.

It makes being a silversmith extra tricky and I’m wondering who else is watching it and how you’re feeling about the swings. I’ve been wondering about how viable trading even is at the moment with this sort of volatility. Makes pricing products extra tricky!!!

My mischievous elf Elvis came with me to yesterday and I’m wondering if that’s why things didn’t quite go to plan? From setting up to display mishaps, some elvis mischief was definitely afoot. I’m hoping his new friend Sid the snowman will freeze his mischief a little longer. Thank you I love him!

We’ve moved to the gorgeous Allendale House — a Georgian Manor right in the heart of Wimborne, jam-packed with character (and the most divine wallpaper I’ve ever seen!). I’ll be on the ground floor alongside heaps of fabulous makers.
