🖤🌈Opals have been captivating hearts and minds of civilisations for centuries.. with their dazzling play of colour and constantly shifting Spectrum of colours, it’s easy to see why.

The first known worked Opal artefacts from East Africa date back 10,000 years! 😱

In the first Century BC, the Romans 🏛️💫 believed that Opals brought hope and prosperity.

In fact, they ranked them as the most valuable Gem, second only two emeralds!!

Later Georgian and Victorian Opals from foreign lands appeared in rings, brooches, pendants and romantic sentimental jewels. 💍💕

To this day some of the finest Opals in the world hail from Australia. 🇦🇺
With the first discovery of this enchanting gemstone in 1849, there was an explosion of incredible Opal Jewellery being made and imported to the continent throughout the 1800s.

In the 1890’s to 1900’s developments in modern cutting techniques led to a real explosion of creativity & design! 👌
🌿🧚 The flowing botanical forms, dreamy settings of the Art Nouveau era brought wonderfully fantastical designs…

Edwardian jewellers took things lighter and more delicate ✨,and Art Deco Opal jewellery is renowned for crisp lines & bold geometry. 💎
