I‘m looking for big hearted people to help with Bono. Bono almost died recently, he had a dreadful bout of gastro causing him to almost bleed to death. Luckily our amazing vets saved him. He’s now back with us but I don’t have the heart to put him back in the kennels, he’s had enough. He spent ages in the perrera, now in kennels with us and my gut feeling tells me he’s tired and had losing hope. He’s now in our vets and we can really see his personality shining through in a quieter environment. He’s calm, walks nicely on a lead, hardly barks, is great with other dogs and doesn’t get over excited. He’s just lovely. Approx 4yrs old, weighs 12.8kg and never had a human. Could that human being you? If not help him find one and share 🙏🙏

Estoy buscando gente de gran corazón para ayudar con Bono. Bono casi muere recientemente, tuvo un terrible ataque de gastro que casi lo desangra hasta morir. Afortunadamente nuestros increíbles veterinarios lo salvaron. Ahora está de vuelta con nosotros, pero no tengo el valor de devolverlo a la perrera, ya ha tenido suficiente. Pasó años en la perrera, ahora en el refugio con nosotros y mi intuición me dice que está cansado y ha perdido la esperanza. Ahora está en nuestros veterinarios y realmente podemos ver su personalidad brillando en un ambiente más tranquilo. Es tranquilo, camina muy bien con correa, apenas ladra, es genial con otros perros y no se emociona demasiado. Es simplemente encantador. Tiene aproximadamente 4 años, pesa 12,8 kg y nunca tuvo un ser humano. ¿Ese ser humano podría ser tú? Si no, ayúdalo a encontrar uno y compartir 🙏🙏

🧡 BREED SPECIFIC INFORMATION - PODENCOS 🧡

The word “Podenco” means “hound” in Spanish. Podencos are affectionate, loyal, sensitive, loving, silly, agile, intelligent and curious.

They come in a variety of sizes - small, medium or large, coats are smooth, rough, wire hair, long hair and in a variety of colours!

Sadly they are often referred to as ‘Invisible Dogs’ or ‘The Great Forgotten’. They are the most abused dog in Spain. Bred to hunt and kept, usually chained, in squalid conditions - these ‘working dogs’ are not protected by Spanish law. It can be difficult to imagine the suffering they endure, hidden from view.

Hunters view them as disposable, not animals with feelings, but working dogs and when no longer useful, they are cruelly discarded like trash.

It’s the same viscous circle every year and without intervention by rescues these poor dogs are left with very little hope.

We know just how special these dogs are. With the right support and training, this incredibly adaptable breed can truly turn its paw to almost anything!

Derek’s Diaries ~ Day 5 of my new life. From rags to riches I’ve been painted by the wonderfully talented Sally Muir ❤️. I can’t believe I’m so loved. How and why did this happen? They’ve also asked me to fundraise with this painting that will now become prints, individually signed and numbered by Sally Muir herself on, A4 (8-¼ x 11-3/4 in), Giclee print Fine Art paper. One minute I’m being eaten by maggots and the next I’m a superstar 🥰. What have they asked me to raise money for? GDS wants to buy a laser machine that helps heal injuries. This would be great for my poorly paw right now and as you know so many dogs come in with dreadful wounds. What a great help that laser machine would be. So we have just 24hrs only, one chance, starting from today, Wednesday 15:00 Spanish time and ending 15:00 tomorrow, Thursday 21st.

It’s May 1st and International day of the Podenco, the day we celebrate this very special and loyal breed of dog but also bring their plight to the attention of the rest of the world. It’s so sad that Spain can allow the cruelty these poor Podenco’s often endure in the hands of the hunters.

We will continue to help these beautiful dogs and we wish a Happy International Podenco Day to all your lovely Pods and to you ❤️

Hello there, Blue Dog followers. I recently said I was changing the name of this page, but it seems that FB is not a fan, so I am keeping the Blue Dog name and page focus! I will get our tech expert (Wesley whippet) on the job of creating a brand spanking new actual website for my artwork shenanigans which I can direct people to if interested. I need a lie down now 💙!
BTW today is Carrie’s birthday! She is probably 7 years old. Her day was pretty awesome, with scrambled egg and chicken for brekkie, a long walk, a nap in the summerhouse, a nap on the sofa, a short walk, more food and an evening nap. All very exhausting. Here is a sketch I did of of Carrie enjoying herself 🧡
