Resin & silver jewellery after-care instructions;
Resin itself is pretty hard-wearing but it isn't diamond hard. To help ensure your treasured items last a lifetime please try to adhere to the following advice. This will keep your pieces looking their best and save you having to pay for the resin jewellery to be replaced. Knocks & bumps
Try to av
oid bumping and scratching or sleeping in your resin jewellery. If it does become damaged, I may be able to sand and re-coat it for a small fee. Water
Do NOT submerge your jewellery pieces in water. Resin is NOT waterproof, only water resistant. So please remember to remove your jewellery before showers, swimming, washing up, cleaning etc. Sunlight
Store your jewellery out of direct sunlight. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause the resin to discolour and soften. Smoking
If your piece is in regular contact with smoke it can yellow fast. Chemicals
Avoid exposing your jewellery to chemicals & cleaning products. This includes chlorine, salt water, perfume, hair spray, cleaning solutions, nail polish remover, antibacterial hand sanitiser and many more. Solvents will react with the epoxy and cause it to become patchy, yellow, chip or worse. Silver & Gold Jewellery Care
Silver will usually tarnish eventually. I use silver that is 925 or above. Silver will tarnish faster under certain conditions. Humidity, air quality (such as living near the seaside), even body chemistry can affect how quickly it tarnishes. Do NOT soak in jewellery cleaner, it will ruin the resin. You can use a silver polishing cloth but be very careful not to rub it over the resin.
9ct yellow gold is harder wearing and can be cleaned in the same manor.
9ct white gold usually needs rhodium plating after a couple of years, the resin will need carefully covering by the jeweller to ensure it isn't damaged during this process. You can have your jewellery professionally polished but as above, they need to be careful to cover the resin.
