A couple of the bees have had a little golden makeover! Sections of them have had a fine layer of 24ct gold applied using an ancient Korean gilding technique called Keum Boo.

Which one would you go for? 1 or 2? 🐝

The bees are back from casting! 🐝

These solid silver bees started life as one little master bee, which I hand-carved using a mix of methods, including silver clay and sheet silver. Once my little bee master was finished, he went off to the casting house, where they made a mould so I could have more of the same made.

However… when they come back from casting, they have what’s called a ‘sprue’- the bit of metal where the silver entered the mould. I cut and file this away, then add back extra detail to the body and wings. Each one is finished entirely by hand, so they all vary slightly from one to the next adding to their charm! You can see this final stage here!

Then it’s just a matter of polishing him up and adding a chain. 🐝

As well as buying recycled silver and gold from UK suppliers I also recycled my own scraps and form into wire and sheet. It can be a long process but it's always so satisfying seeing it form... and I love the molten stage (although it gets very hot and I have to remind myself I definitely should NOT touch it! 😂)

15 years ago today I woke up ridiculously excited because it was my wedding day. Within half an hour I was in floods of tears and an emotional wreck! 😂

My husband Ollie had given me a box to open that morning as a surprise. Inside was a pair of diamond earrings he’d had made from his gran’s engagement ring- someone I never got to meet.

The significance of this beautiful gesture completely knocked me sideways. The earrings instantly gave me a whole new connection to his family, and I’ve treasured them ever since.

Jewellery can hold stories, memories, love, friendship, loss and so much more. I feel incredibly lucky that I now get to create pieces that become part of someone else’s story too. ❤️

I shouldn't really be posting this yet as it's not officially ready 🤭 (it's currently being hallmarked), but I'm a little bit in love with it, so I wanted to share it with you!

It's mixed 9ct gold and sterling silver with a beautiful topaz centre stone 😍 The light blue and gold together are just so pretty!
I had it in my head that I'd be able to make lots of lovely new pieces for the event I'm doing in a couple of weeks, but I definitely underestimated how long each piece takes! 🤦‍♀️ So, I've had to get some off to be hallmarked already.

I'll continue developing this collection and give it a proper introduction when the pieces are ready. ✨

I’m still fairly new to the world of gemstones, and these are a few I’ve recently ordered for some new pieces I’m working on. 💎

I won’t lie, it’s pretty scary working with natural stones- the risk of me dropping one and watching it disappear into the depths of my workshop is quite high! 😂

I try to choose harder stones for pieces that are likely to get more knocks, particularly rings, and I’m constantly learning about the different properties of each stone.
Topaz is definitely a favourite at the moment. 😍 (The dark blue stones here are sapphires- the others are topaz.)

🌟I’m excited to be taking part in this event hosted by the fab networking group I’m part of ScreenPop Meets Networking groups 🌟

⭐️ Exciting news!! ⭐️

I’ve now had my final results through for my fine diploma and am so pleased with the results- not to mention all the new skills and techniques I’ve learnt!

*For anyone interested in learning jewellery making I’d highly recommend them… they have so many different classes for all abilities! (Just a warning though… it becomes addictive) 🤣

How cute are these mini bee studs?! 🐝 I have quite a few different stud earrings (not all on my website as haven’t got around to photographing 🙈) But these are always a fav… and each pair is individually hand sculpted from recycled silver!
