Please read for more detail about preserving ashes, hair, fur and breast milk. Preserving Ashes
I understand how the loss of a loved one or a greatly cherished pet is a difficult time for all concerned, and your thoughts may turn to a special memorial piece to keep a small part of them close and as a lasting tribute to their memory. Here at Preserving the Past I aim to provide a caring, respectfu
l and personal service, with your considerations at the heart of each piece I create. You will be provided with the means to collect the precious ashes (very little is needed). Please be assured that I treat all ashes with the utmost care, dignity and respect, no ashes are discarded and all unused ashes will be returned to you. I will light a scented candle with each memorial ashes piece made and you have the option of a favourite piece of music being played if you wish. I will work closely with you as you choose your memorial piece and consider your own and your loved one’s favourite colours and designs- always being here to answer any queries you may have. Please be mindful that each piece is handcrafted and unique, so slight colour variations are possible. I will keep you informed of the progress of your special memorial piece throughout the creating process. Hair or fur
The exact same principles are applied when working with human or horse hair and pet fur. You can be assured of a personal service and the same level of respect and care throughout the process. There is an extra consideration when working with these inclusions as some shades may not show up very well with certain colour backgrounds and light fur and hair can be transparent in resin. You may need to provide a little extra to enable it to be seen and a contrasting background colour is recommended. Again, I am more than happy to discuss your requirements to find the best option for a special and unique piece of jewellery
Breast Milk
Again, you can be assured of a personal and thoughtful service when ordering breast milk jewellery. I will provide a marked tube to transport the required amount of milk to me (or you can choose to give me your frozen breast milk). Around 5ml is needed to make up to 3 pieces but a ml or two more can be collected. You can choose between a range of delicate pearlescent hues in your piece, a completely natural breastmilk colour without additions, silver or gold flakes, glitter or plain white. As breast milk can vary in colour yours may be more or less creamy than the sample pieces. Please note, due to the extra time and cost involved with preserving the milk there is an additional £5 charge for breast milk pieces. I do not believe that beautiful bereavement or breast milk jewellery should be financially out of reach, so I have more affordable silver items through to custom ordered gold pieces. You are more than welcome to pay in instalments if you wish, but all jewellery must be fully paid for before I place an order for the piece. Turnaround times can vary greatly depending on stock availability with 4 – 6 weeks being standard. Unfortunately, due to ongoing supply issues worldwide, it may take up to10 weeks for gold custom made jewellery. I will keep you informed every step of the way if there are any issues and I hope you can understand that sometimes delays may be necessary and unavoidable to prevent compromising on the quality of the pieces I order. Finally, I aim to offer a truly personal service in Newbald and the surrounding area of East Yorkshire. I am happy to meet in person whenever possible to avoid the worry of posting precious ashes and please feel free to message me if you have any questions or would like anything clarified.
