I rather like that you can see both front and back of this beautiful and unusual brooch. The stone is a mottled blue lapis lazuli and is a near round. Not a perfect circle at all but a near round. Kind of rustic and I very much like that. To emphasize the round I have included little spherical beads of silver to decorate and bring interest. What do you think ? Does this kind of brooch spark your interest ?

Love it when pretty things turn up in the post. And these particular pretty things are little aquamarines. Gorgeous !

A “this or that” post. So which do you prefer ? Moonstone or labradorite ? Both stones come from the same feldspar family and have similar characteristics. They both catch and play with light giving lively flashes of colour. The moonstone is a lighter, whiter gem with flashes of blue and sometimes pink, whilst the Labradorite is darker with flashes of green and gold. Which one does it for you ? Or perhaps you love them both ?

One tiddly fiddly stone set. And one to go ! Pretty colour don’t you think ? Sky blue topaz. They have lovely glass like quality to them. Very pretty.

Morning everyone, I’ve got some little oval prasiolite studs that are ready to post. Prasiolite is the most delicate of greens and part of the quartz family. Just like amethyst or lemon quartz. Looks insignificant doesn’t it, this photo. But in reality, earrings like these blue topaz drops will be, take as much work as a large pendant. The process is the same, the steps taken to construct and shape and polish are the same. So, with that in mind, these little drops have been constructed and soldered together. Just like a pendant or brooch would have been. They have been popped into the pickling acid to clean them up and I will be polishing them up next.

Lapis lazuli. Not normally known for being a faceted stone. More often smooth. And with a rich deep blue colour which is fabulous. But the little earrings featuring small softened triangles of blue lapis are indeed faceted and they really do bring such a lovely twinkle to this pair of jewells. Often revered as a stone representing inner harmony you can see why it has been loved for thousands of years. Maybe you know someone who’d love to wear these earrings.
