When I met Raj all those moons ago, never in a million years would I have thought he would complete a marathon. He was always a happy go lucky guy, who loved to socialise, (you might say a bit too hard) and didn’t always find time to move his body in a way that he loved.

Fast forward to over 10 years later and I can honestly say I am the proudest wife. His dedication to running over the last few years has been something I am in complete awe off. Early mornings, wet weather, running while on holiday in over 30 degrees of heat, sustaining injuries, changing his diet and consumption, the list goes on.

When it got really tough he never wavered, but stayed committed and strong to his choice and dedication to a very special charity

This is quite a personal post for me but I guess I’ve learnt a lot from him over the last few months of his training and the last few years as I’ve seen him transform his approach to life.

🔸️Setbacks make you stronger - he’s no longer the man I married but in all of the best possible ways

🔸️Physical endurance is nothing without mental agility - The mind and body work in tandem, without one there can’t be the other

🔸️Community will keep you going - life feels a little less lonely when you find the right people

Congratulations Raj, thank you for inspiring me every day!

International Women’s Day ✨️

Many organisations marked IWD yesterday following the theme promoted by the International Women’s Day website. But while researching for a client recently, I realised there were actually two different themes.

The United Nations theme this year is

“Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL women and girls.”

A theme centred on systemic change in laws, protections, equity and justice for women globally.

The theme promoted by the International Women’s Day website is “Give to Gain.”

A campaign encouraging mentoring, support and giving back to women’s causes.

I understand the relevance of this with community, generosity and lifting one another up but I also saw a lot of people looking to boycott this message.

Because the reality is that women are so often asked to give whether it be their time, their energy, their resilience, their expertise. And often its without recognition or compensation.

You only have to look at how many women are asked to speak at IWD events for free. Something that was powerfully articulated by last week.

So while I appreciate the message behind “Give to Gain”, I think the wider message from the UN feels the most relevant and important.

Not what women can give over and over but what actually needs to change on a wider level in order to bring greater equality for ALL women.

However you recognise it, I wish you a Happy International Women's Day. Very proud to be one!
