Precious, beautifully handcrafted jewellery to soothe, or awaken the senses.

Jewellery for me is an art form; I see jewellery as wearable sculpture, a means to explore relationships and form, to ask questions and present challenges, to soothe the senses or to awaken them. From concept to realisation, I like the element of problem solving that jewellery making presents. For this reason I mainly produce one-off pieces, and I also like to work to commission. The making proces

s requires focus; at every stage in the development of a piece of jewellery, challenges arise and choices must be made. The process requires a fluid approach, and every problem arising equally presents opportunity. The final outcome charts this evolving relationship between the idea, the choices made, the application of process, and the behaviour of the material. With a successful piece of jewellery these elements find accord. Equally important to me in the making process is the notion of intent. As we weave and forge and form our intentions into objects, here we jewellers have the means to exercise alchemy.

Elemental collection

This collection stems from a project for J, who wanted to gift a precious ring to his partner; he told me their story and over subsequent weeks, through drawings and test models I sought ways to describe elements of their meeting…

Their final outcome was its own beautiful story, not Elemental, but a fabulous ring which I might share later… So, from the discarded test pieces also came the early beginnings of my Elemental collection.

Those hand cast tests are for me especially resonant of nature’s beauty; seedlings newly sprouting / rustling reeds at the water’s edge / ash leaves shimmering in the breeze…

In these Elemental pics you’ll get a glance at the Resonance ring / Connection rings / Cluster necklace / Elemental earrings with diamonds.

If you like a closer look, I’ll be showing them this week at RARE25, our exhibition at Flux Studios. Come ask me questions- I’ll be happy to tell you more…

These last months, Dyad has grown to become a tribe of its own…..

Anima, the vessel I’d originally carved from Botswana Agate, has become Mother, and here stands beside her Anima Bronze!

Persona, the Native Gold ring I’d carved from wax, now takes form in silver and bronze, other exciting metals too….

Here’s a quick glance at this expanding Dyad collection; more to be revealed soon :))

DYAD

This project began with a rock in my hand; seeing only its rough, raw exterior, I had yet to envisage its future form. What was its story? Seeking a connection with this precious mystery, I cut the stone.

Now open, the agate revealed something of its Earth-born beauty.
From dark greys to whites and oranges, its lines told a million-year story of how a once empty cavity had filled with minerals and liquids, eventually transforming to take solid, microcrystalline form.

Newly exposed to light, this gem’s womb-like core transmitted palpable energy. Thus, in my carving, I sought a means to express the agate’s beautiful spirit: ANIMA.

From rock to living presence, this newly formed agate vessel held precious space for another element to commune. Taking Anima’s direction, I hand-carved from wax a well-fitting ‘native gold’ form.

Once cast, with Anima now stands PERSONA, this powerful, protective, native gold ring.

I’m honoured and humbled that this pieces won multiple accolades from the GCDC awards 2024, and after various exhibitions, delighted to have them back in hand again- for now, leastways!

With these lively beings as foundations, I’m exploring new developments… more to be revealed soon.…!

If you’d like to talk more about this project, I’ll be showing Dyad amongst other pieces of my jewellery in our Winter Open Studios exhibition, RARE24 at Flux Studios, Vanguard Court. Drop by!
