FigFig2

FigFig2 Our history . . . The images we designed filled the triple X sized T shirts that everyone wore in those days. His friends liked them . . .

The original Fig Fig brand was started in the mid to late 80s by Sue Westergaard & Paul Adams, who designed & printed T shirts & other garments, selling them direct to the public at places like Greenwich Market & through shops nationwide. Intricate designs were collaged & re-worked from victorian engravings, images from 50s magazines and ancient encyclopedia illustration. Printed almost exclusive

ly in black & white they illustrated surreal narratives or purported to be instructional diagrams teaching you how to, for example, dive from a fish. In 2010 Sue's godson, Gabriel, started to wear some of his dads' vintage 80s Fig Fig T's when out gigging. Strangers complimented him on them . . . Sue decided that it might be time to re-invent the brand. So that's all in process at the moment. At the moment we are developing ideas & designing, prototyping & sampling. Fig Fig2 is planning to re-launch properly in autumn 2011. Sue is now working with Jessie Duerdoth & with fashion designer Esther Smith. We've trialled some of the pieces through Aida Hagashenas' Brag Clothing, & in early July we worked with Dickie Wilkinson selling jewellery & ceramics through his Luxury Lucky Dip stall at Artsmart next to Tate Britain. LOOK OUT FOR THE RE-LAUNCH PROPER OF FIG FIG2 THIS AUTUMN !!!
