Sensational antique rose cut diamond ring, still in original early 20th century ring with sapphire surround. The Rose cut is a type of point cut, the facets culminate to a point instead of to a flat table facet like most other diamond cuts. There’s a real harmony at play with our jewellery: in this instance we have an incredible matched pair of cut diamond ear studs set in black and gold, the proportions and angles are key here and tie the steep crown angle of the diamonds seamlessly into their setting. The black is an iso ceramic and the gold is 18ct French gold. Watch this space for the matching ring

The softer hues of yellow in diamonds are are absolutely stunning in antique old mine cut diamonds. These softer colours are often known as cape diamonds and are perhaps a little more wearable (even at 15cts like this one! 🤣). Cape diamond describes this softer hue before you get to the stronger “Fancy” colour scale: named after the Northern Cape province in South Africa where many of these colours were found (such as the Premier Mine, now the Cullinan Mine and The Kimberley Mine)
