Her Majesty The Queen wears the Cullinan V, a 18.80 carat heart shaped diamond brooch, on Day One of Royal Ascot 2026.

The Cullinan V is one of the most significant pieces of jewellery ever made — crafted by Garrard in 1911 for Queen Mary of Teck, made from one of nine principal stones cut from the Cullinan Diamond, the largest diamond ever discovered.

Elizabeth II inherited this brooch from her grandmother, Queen Mary of Teck. In later life, she came to wear it often, namely for Royal Ascot, the Opening of Parliament, Christmas speeches, and famously for tea with Paddington Bear.

The brooch was set in Queen Mary’s Crown, the crown used for the Coronation of Camilla as Queen at Westminster Abbey in 2023. A special placement first started by Queen Mary for the Coronation of her son in 1937, King George VI.

This marks the second consecutive year Queen Camilla has worn the brooch for Royal Ascot, the start of a new tradition shaped by Garrard’s remarkable artistry.
