Kasturjewels

Kasturjewels Jewel Fashion, Heritage,
& Humanity This tied in with heavy inspiration dating back to 14th-15th century royal India and Persia.

Named after her late Grandmother, 'Kastur', Rajvi founded Kasturjewels. ''Kasturjewels epitomize my Grandmother's fundamental character: Timeless, Classic, Dignified, Fearless and Powerful...Indeed, I want a woman to feel just this, adorned in a Kasturjewel''! Fixated by the fairy tale, glamorous and opulent lifestyles that thrived during this period, history is a fundamental part of each Kasturje

wel. From the intricate wall carvings and paintings found on 15th century palace walls, to the ornate domes that marked the places of birth and death of Kings and Queens long bygone, Rajvi (Founder) has always been intrigued by heritage stories, design and art. Through time memorial, British aristocracy has been known to embrace jewels and design from this period. Kasturjewels revives design that has been appreciated here for centuries...but with a hint of contemporary chic for the modern woman! From the stone choice, to the intricate cut work on the base metal (silver or brass) attention to detail is the focus. A single Kastur jewel could take up to 8 hours to make. There is an emphasis on grand and statement pieces, but those that are still simple enough to wear all the time. Kasturjewels have a regal, but unassuming feel. These contradictions in terms mean our collections always remain exciting! What’s even more satisfying about owning a Kasturjewel, is that a % of every sale goes towards supporting a needy cause that we ourselves identify and manage, through our Kasturjewels woman 2 woman initiative. Kastur pieces are designed in house at our studio in London by Rajvi Vora. Rajvi is a third generation Kenyan of Indian origin, who lives in London. She spent 8 years working in development and humanitarian initiatives in the most vulnerable and volatile parts of Kenya, East Africa, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Her aim is to give back directly in a way that she can oversee funding to projects herself, through her creative arm: Kasturjewels and the Woman 2 Woman initiative. On the one hand a woman gets to own a beautiful heritage inspired jewel, embedded in history and glamour, at the same time she is helping improve another less privileged woman’s life!

One of the grandest rings we have done recently. So grateful for the chance to work on custom pieces which is something we enjoy the most as it enables us to really explore our creative ability without compromise.

The customer wanted a chunky stack of solid gold on one ring (‘to reflect a sense of regality & to simply stare at - mostly at home’!) using this ancient technique of engraving depicting flora & fauna and a vibrant peridot stone.

We used a 7.07 carat natural cushion cut Burmese peridot which was then used as the centre point base to work around the detailing. Notice the inside of the ring which also has the detailed ‘Jali’ work. All hand done. The ring took around 8 weeks to make.

Always interesting to hear the varied reasons why people want jewellery.

Fluorescent faceted stones & kind hands set the tone…

The hand that has been used in jewellery since the medieval times…

Our interpretation: in a world consumed with power & ‘success’ a gentle reminder not to forget the power of kindness & humility…

‘The Kind Hand’

The kind of 17.45 carat carved emerald ring you may not wear on the school run, or ever at all …

I would just keep it perched in its 17th century French casing on my mantel piece so I can stare at it whilst sipping my chai every morning ☕️…….

One of our prettiest and very labour intensive rings that found its new home recently..

Featuring the ancient technique of partash that traces origins to Persia through to the Mughal dynasty in the 15th century when its use flourished and became deeply rooted. It’s an art form we have been using for many years in our pieces. (18kt gold)

We can make this style in any size using various stones.

Raw, uncut, unfiltered Jaipur that 20 slides can take this Sunday. From the master craftsmen who continue to make our pieces using ancient age old techniques & methods of working , passed down generations. Sacred, hard to access, mysterious…As I always say they support us, not the opposite narrative;
to the ancient palaces & forts that have stood the test of time & that fascinate me to no end; simple meals & much humility but beauty everywhere…

(Many people ask us for details of our workshops) It’s taken over 15 years for us to find and build these relationships… They are off the beaten track, often one person per workshop… no mass production , manufacturing or factories…

We thank you for your support and belief in us🙏🏽

THE FOCUS HERE IS THE STONE! A rather fabulous 13.80 carat of Imperial Topaz in a slight asymmetric cut. One of a kind.

Very interesting history fact check on Imperial topaz👇🏽

Imperial Topaz is known to be the rarest and most prized variety of topaz. The name is apparently linked to Russian royalty—legend says it was favored by the Russian Tsars, and pink topaz was even once reserved exclusively for them!

Adore this ring. The detail on it is everything! Fully hand engraved & etched on 18kt gold with the most meticulous & intricate patterns reflecting 15th century Mughal motifs & indeed using the ancient Mughal technique of Partash. The inside of the ring is also detailed with delicate, in-depth filigree work. The centre stone a fabulous old mine cut diamond.

A forever heirloom.
