Charlotte E Padgham Contemporary Art & Jewellery A dedicated page for my experimental art and jewellery practice. www.9-lives.org.uk

The coalescence of art and science through materials and processes, as well as thematically, connects all of my work. Themes of transition, manipulation, ephemerality and 'imperfection' are explored through the analysis and re-appropriation of found objects and matter with a view to creating work that harnesses both control and spontaneity and that have the potential to or the feeling of being able to transform and evolve over time. Sustainability and circular economy principles are an integral part of my process. I'm passionate about sourcing materials with her own hands, re-using what is already in circulation, and giving new life to what cannot be recycled. Materials and waste are reused and reworked within and across my art and jewellery practices. To see more of my work visit www.9-lives.org.uk

Delighted to be taking part in July showcase, The Alchemist.

And what an extraordinary show it is!

Taking inspiration from accomplished silversmith Rebecca de quin and the book The Alchemist

“The book that most interested the boy told stories of alchemists. They dedicated their lives to the purification of metals; they believed if metal were heated for years, it would free itself of all individual properties and what was left would be the Soul of the World. They spent years observing the fire, so close that the purification of metals led to purification of themselves.” — The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

This showcase explores transformation through the language of metal and celebrates experimentation, patination, texture, form and the balance between traditional and contemporary techniques. Expect to see designers who embody transformation and demonstrate material sensitivity.

📆 Showcase open from 2 July - 28th July
⏰ Visit: Monday to Friday, 10am to 6pm
📍 FORGE, 59 Leather Lane, London EC1N 7TJ

MASSIVE shoutout to
Everyone was so incredibly kind, warm and good-humoured, great vibes, and exceptionally run.

Delighted and relieved I passed this time around, it’s taken 3 years of trying to get my levels up enough again 🩸

That it coincided with the Blood Drive (and is possibly the last donation of my 40s) was serendipitous.

And thank you SO much for my t-shirt 🤘🏼

See you next time ❤️

Next up METALLICA at the London Stadium!!!🖤🔥🖤

If you can donate blood or plasma please please do. Right now only 2% of the population donate blood. It only takes an hour and could help save multiple lives.

My skin and hair is incorporated physically and conceptually throughout the majority of my work - as material, tool and inspiration.

Throwback to a series of photographic liquid emulsion prints on reclaimed Tyvek protective overalls and recycled papers from an ongoing body of work and experiments entitled ‘we are all around us’ (begun in 2009).

SKINS / FALLEN

A study of transformation.

Shedding.
Falling.
Changing.
Becoming.

What it is to be human captured in metal, and inspired by the beauty in transition.

Handcrafted wearable sculptures created to be felt.
