ClarisahTime - Guilloche straight line and rose engine I recently got the bug of guilloche and since old machines are close to impossible to find or to get, I have decided to design my own rose engine. We shall see!

Chapter ring. I found this short clip somewhere on YouTube, I can't recall where. My rose engine supports pumping action of the main spindle. But in this video looks like the cutter is actually moving. I'm thinking there may be a pumping rosette assembled at the very front, pushing the cutter in and out, with the cutter being under constant tension of a spring. Is that how this is done? Suggestions welcome.

A practical potential solution for a stop-end if one gets distracted and the motor is still turning. No need for switches or sensors, quite nice. We'll test it assembled at the bottom and top end of the rack of the straight line adaptor for my rose engine.

This is my interpretation of a pen chuck for straight line engine. It comes with a plate that can be superimposed for larger flat work. It seems quite functional and straightforward to use. I'll do some tests before committing to its metal version. Thoughts and feedback welcome.

This is a draft of a design that I am working on for a pen chuck with additional front plate to hold larger flat workpieces. The long leadscrew is to move the pivot of the assembly to balance the weight more evenly, not really required but a nice feature. The smaller screw is to holder the pen barrel in place. The ratchet wheel has 100 teeth at the moment. Still working on it, thoughts welcome.

Yesterday was a very productive day. Among other things, I completed the restoration of this beautiful Nikon V12B. Precision to 0.001mm, amazing optics of 10x, 25x and 50x. Wow! Enjoy this metrology instrument.

After years of relentless development, countless late nights, and uncompromising refinement, I am proud to present ClaRiSahTime—a custom-engineered rose engine designed for ornamental turning and guilloché.

Named in honor of my family who supported this obsession, this project was a labor of love to create a capable machine with an aesthetic elegance. Built professionally with a rigid, high-grade stainless steel architecture and optimized metallurgy where it matters most, these machines offer unparalleled stability.

I am parting with the only two complete machines that will ever be made. This is not a business venture; it is a one-time opportunity to own a bespoke piece of engineering. As such, drawings will not be shared.

Specifications & Included Accessories:

Foundation: Robust cast iron legs (~25kg each) mounted to a gorgeous 65mm Sapele hearth board. Total assembly weight is approximately 150kg of vibration-dampening mass.

Tooling & Accessories: Complete with drive motor, self-centering chuck, ratchet gear/lever system, amplitude adjuster, two radial/axial leveling chucks, a straight-line adapter (photos upcoming), belt tensioner, and an extensive suite of additional accessories. Rosettes are 3D printed as it only makes sense to purchase metal once committed to a design. Metal rosettes about USD 250 each. Only one rosette is in metal, it does rocking plus pumping with a high amplitude, so it depends on what you are doing and you'll need different rubbers to optimise your work, all easily done.

These are heirloom-quality instruments engineered for serious practitioners who demand the absolute best.

Wearing in my straight line engine. Added a motor with driver and controller. Set it to automatically run up and down to test the full length. Very pleased with it, runs smoothly, it feels as though it's gliding on butter! Enjoy it.

Replica of an old cross slide with ratchet gear for guilloche work. Patents have expired. Nice design, very clever, but it's missing mass for guilloche. I'll see how I can clamp it down to stabilise it, especially around the rotation pins.

Redesigning the rubber (or follower?) holder such that it can be easily removed without removing the side assembly. Not really needed, but a neat small improvement coming up in next 3D printed version of my rose engine.
