And lo. The fourth in the set. I bought this one. My initial reaction was that I wasn’t in love with it. And yet it kept calling me. It is just immense. Not sure what was wrong with me first go round. This is a gloomy dark cold vetiver with a blooming jasmine and a wonderful fatty smooth iris. It’s elegance in the extreme.

Grace‘ Routine ® Velin is a spooky strange ethereal sandalwood with a mysterious powdered iris and violet thing going on. It starts with a misdirection - it seems like it’s going to be Santal 33 esque but it actually quickly ambles off in the powdery purple direction where it gently softens and sweetens over the wear.

It’s quite a whispy sort of fragrance. Not weak but it comes and goes - occasionally just grabbing you and sometimes letting you forget it’s there.

Its very elegant and rather charming.

I don’t really know what to say about BOSS “Bottled Beyond EDT intense”. It has a scent? Yes. It’s a fragrance? But what a terrible name. This whole range are a baffling array of the same words in different orders. Does anyone understand them?

This is a pleasant generic fresh leather sort of thing. Blue-ish in its sensibilities and relatively simple. It smells fine and performs adequately and for some people that will do fine.

Hey MIND GAMES Fragrance we need to talk. Why on earth would you market Arabian Mate as feminine? Not that I’ve ever really cared what the marketing team decides, you’re cutting off a load of muggles who do. This might be a rosey slightly gourmand woody but it’s absolutely magnificent and bang in the middle of the unisex highway as far as I’m concerned.

Bright snappy cardamom opening - fizzy and aromatic. Then a sweet rounded rose and a mostly sandalwood patchouli base. It feels stylistically familiar but isn’t too close to anything I could name.

You’ll never hear me say it’s “well blended” because it’s a nonsense term. The blend is the ratio of the materials used. So “well blended” means the ratio is well. Fu***ng gibberish. But. BUT! I think people usually use the expression to mean how plush or smooth the fragrance feels. And this feels very plush. It’s elegant, smooth, plusher than a new feather duvet.

This is, for me, the best Mind Games release to date.

Elie Saab L’Homme Intense. It’s a very pretty bottle. In fact it’s the same bottle as the regular L’Homme. Which is quite annoying. The only difference is what’s written on the sticker on the bottom.

It’s quite an interesting fragrance though. I’d assumed this would be generic blue territory but far from it. It’s quite a bitter, astringent citrus with a spiced woody heart and a quite rough assertive leather base. It wears like a rugged modern day citrus riff on Tuscan leather (sans the raspberry bleurgh).

Solid. And very robust.
