It's my aim to make your forever keepsake perfect for you. As a horse owner myself I know how treasured this special piece of jewellery will be. Each piece is unique and hand crafted to your own specific requirements. To collect the tail hair, lift the tail and cut a piece close to the dock on the underside of the tail. This way it won't be noticeable! I need the hair to be about the thickness of

your little finger and at least 17" long to braid a bracelet but the longer and more hair the better. Shorter lengths can be used to make keyrings and tassels. Secure the hair at the end only with a band (a plaiting band is perfect) please don't plait the hair as it will kink which makes it difficult to work with. Mane hair doesn't braid well as it's too soft but can be used to make tassels. If you have more than one horse and would like them combined into one braid or tassel this is not a problem and can produce some stunning results! I will wash and prepare the hair for you and return your chosen piece gift boxed by recorded delivery. The price for this is -

Now for the fun bit...choosing your fittings!! Have a look at my "Fittings & Charms" album to choose the fittings and charms you would like to make your piece unique. Please note ALL my fittings, charms and beads are 925 Sterling Silver and NOT just silver plated. Each braided item will need 2 end caps and a tassel will need 1 end cap. If there is something specific you have in mind which I don't stock please contact me and I will do my best to find it for you. Also if you have your own bead or charm you want attached I am happy to do this. Please just contact me first to discuss. When posting just add a note stating which custom made piece you would like, bracelet, keyring etc, along with which fittings, charms and beads desired. For bracelets these will be made to a standard 7" which is an average adult. They can be made smaller or larger, so please do state your requirements if different. The thing I love most about this piece is how clearly you can see the hair inside the horseshoe.

The braid is worked inside the 2cm sterling silver horseshoe shape and sits securely within it, so the hair is held in place but completely visible. Every strand of your horse's tail hair sitting inside a horseshoe in solid silver. The horseshoe itself is hand-soldered onto the oval screw clasp for strength, then the braided hair is carefully added.

The oval screw clasp measures approximately 3.4cm by 1.8cm and is stamped 925 so you know exactly what you're getting.

The Horseshoe Hair Keychain requires significantly less tail hair than a braided bracelet, making it a beautiful option if you only have a small amount available

A few questions I get asked often - answered as honestly as I can.
How long does it take? Current turnaround is three to four weeks from when I receive your hair. I'll keep you updated at each stage - you won't be left wondering where things are.
Can I braid multiple horses together? Yes - this is a popular choice, and the different textures and colours of each horse's hair often show subtly in the finished braid, which most people find beautiful.
What happens to the hair I don't use? It comes back to you, carefully packaged alongside your bracelet. Always.
Can I mix horse hair with dog fur or ashes? Yes - a resin bead set alongside the braid is a wonderful way to hold more than one bond in a single piece.
And if your question isn't here - just ask. There's genuinely no question too small, and I'd far rather you ask and feel certain than hesitate and wonder. 💙

Can you braid hair from more than one horse into a single piece? Yes - and it's one of my favourite things to make.
The most common reason people ask for this is that they've loved more than one horse over the years. When braiding multiple horses together, I work carefully to ensure each strand is secure and the braid sits evenly. The finished piece is as durable as a single-horse bracelet. And because each horse's hair has its own subtle colour and texture, you can sometimes see the different strands in the braid - which most people find quietly beautiful.

Not everyone wants to wear their keepsake. Some people want to carry it.

The horse hair tassel is hand-strung from your horse's own tail hair and finished in solid 925 sterling silver. Each one is made to approximately 14cm - the natural movement and flow of the hair is the whole point - and can be trimmed at home to your preferred length.

Your choice of clasp determines how you use it: a small trigger clasp for a bag or keys, an albert swivel for attaching to the D ring of a saddle, or an oval screw clasp. You can also add a charms - angel wings, a horseshoe, an initial, or an engraved heart.

Because every strand of your horse's hair deserves to go somewhere beautiful. 💙

What does '925' actually mean - and why does it matter for your bracelet?
It's the hallmark of genuine sterling silver: 92.5% pure silver, with the remaining 7.5% usually copper. That small addition of copper is what gives sterling silver its strength - pure silver is actually too soft for jewellery that's meant to be worn daily. The copper makes it durable without affecting its appearance or its hypoallergenic properties.
Every metal component in your bracelet - the clasp, the end caps, the safety chain, any charms - is genuine 925 sterling silver. Larger fittings carry the 925 stamp. Smaller components like delicate end caps are sometimes too small to stamp individually, but they're the same material throughout. I don't mix metals or use sterling silver selectively.
The alternative is silver-plated jewellery: a base metal with a thin silver coating applied on top. It looks identical at first. But the coating wears away - sometimes within a year or two - and what's underneath isn't silver. For something you're going to wear every day, potentially for decades, that matters enormously. 💙
