The Purple Emperor Butterfly 🦋

Famous for the male's gorgeous purple colouring, the Purple Emperor Butterfly is found in woodland canopies throughout the UK and Europe. It is notorious for its diet consisting of rotting meat (along with other more normal choices) 💀

This particular specimen is special to me - it was sourced from Salcey Forest, where I grew up having walks with my nan and sister 🥰

This one features a Red Flasher Butterfly, named due to the striking reds on their hind wings ❤️

The Orange-Tip Butterfly 🦋

These are easily spotted by the male's orange-tip wings (hence the name), whilst females have more grey/black tips 🧡

They emerge in Spring and are found across the UK and Europe, and personally are one of my favourite butterflies - I love how small yet striking they are! 😍

The Mexican Fireleg Tarantula 🕷️

This was originally a tarantula shed which I managed to hydrate, stuff and pin to get in this position how I liked! You may notice they are missing a few legs but I like how the florals fill in the gaps and surround this beauty, as inspired by 🥰

The Bath White Butterfly 🦋

This butterfly is found predominantly in Southern Europe and has even been rarely spotted in the South of the UK ✨

The Bath White is one of the first recorded insects to have been pinned in the world in 1702! The original specimen can still be found at the Oxford Museum of Natural History - a trip to visit is in order 🤭

The Clouded Yellow Butterfly 🦋

Obsessed with how this small piece came out, from the vintage domed glass frame, to the lace backing, I feel each detail compliments eachother nicely 😍

Another frame we popped in !

This one features a deer sacrum, vertebrae and tail bones, backed with upcycled crushed velvet and florals 🦌

I love different types of bone frames to showcase the skeletal structure of specimens, and to show how different species vary in sizes and shapes 😍

The Death's-Head Hawkmoth 💀

These stunning moths are known for featuring in the horror film 'The Silence of the Lambs' and are famous for their skull markings 😍

They are a firm fan favourite and we're not surprised with how gorgeous they are!

The Death's-Head Hawkmoth can be found throughout Africa, Europe and have even been spotted in the UK (if you're lucky enough! 😅)
