The Mango Tree Longicorn Borer Longhorn Beetle 🪲🥭

A few people found this buddy a lil scary at our last fair but I still wanted to show him off as we find him pretty sweet! Displayed in a vintage wooden box frame with a moss border 🌿

These beetles are known to attack mango trees (hence the name) and are found throughout Asia 🌏

We'll be bringing him to the .handmade.and.vintage fair later this month!

The Dark Blue Pansy Butterfly 🦋

Native to Africa, this stunning creature is named after the blue spots on its hind wings 💙

Females tend to have duller blue or purple patches compared to the blues of the males, showing a sexual dimorphism as seen in most butterflies

Showing off our first pet memorial piece! 🕷️🪻

We got sent Andrew, the Pink Toe Tarantula, who had recently passed away 😢 very grateful to his owners though who trusted us to make him a forever home 🥰

He now resides in his own little globe home, complete with the cork bark he used to rest on in his enclosure 🥹 with forget me not flowers, crystals and blue berries to match Andrew 🪻 He is a very tiny fella so it may be hard to spot him at a first glance!

It's moments like these that makes us so grateful to be getting to do what we love most 🥰

The Garden Tiger Moth 🦋

I am absolutely in love with tiger moths and I think the Garden Tiger Moth is one of my favourites! The stunning patterns act as a warning to predators as the moths bodily fluids are poisonous ☣️

These species are night-flying moths, and prefer colder climates. They can be found throughout the US, Canada and Europe 🌎

The African Monarch 🦋

Despite it's name, as well as residing in Africa, this butterfly can be found throughout Asia and Australia too 🌍

It is known to consume Milkweed, a toxic containing compound which means it isn't a very tasty snack for predators, hence building up a defence from it's diet 🐛

Fun fact - the African Monarch is believed to be one of the first butterflies depicted in Art! 🖌️

The Lime Butterfly 🦋

The Lime Butterfly is named after their caterpillars, which feed on the leaves of citrus plants 🍋‍🟩🍋 They are native to Asia and Australia 🌏

Despite not having the typical tails seen on their hindwings like others in the family, the Lime butterfly is actually a Swallowtail! 🦋
