I've been playing around with this nautical compass idea. Check out this Compass rose ring! Featuring a beautiful rose-cut blue topaz and pink sapphires. Set in silver and 18ct yellow gold.

I’m so enamoured of this Sapphire that I cut. The slight opalescence, the greeny teal colour shifts and flashes of gold. It’s captivating. Can you imagine it set in 18ct gold, decorating your hand? ‘Sweetie’ ring. Size M. £430

The central Pink Rosecut Sapphire is a deep raspberry pink, with perfect natural inclusions that add to the character and charm of the piece. It is set in 22ct yellow gold, which makes it really pop and adds such a luxe aspect to it. The side stones are: 3mm blue Sapphires, 3mm Amethysts, and 3mm Rhodolite Garnets. These stones were chosen to highlight the colours within the main gemstone and overall they give a vibrantly colourful pallete that almost looks like sweeties, hence the name ‘Sweetie ring’. The band is Sterling Silver, approx 3mm square-ish in profile. It’s a statement ring and would go well with a cocktail dress or a ballgown, although the temptation would be to wear it all the time!

I’ve been a bit quiet lately because I’ve been completely engrossed in this new skill…
I’ve always adored gemstones and geometry, and had been watching videos about faceting for years, which is where I discovered , and the courses he runs in Lyon, France. It was a bit of an adventure as I’d never been abroad on my own before, but it was absolutely invaluable as a springboard for starting to cut gems myself. Now I’ve got more gemstone rough than I have time to cut and balancing my regular work demands with my desire to cut gems is a challenge!
I’ll be sharing the gorgeous jewels that I make with my new skills going forward. 😍

Sometimes I can make something and I like it but it doesn’t have the finished feeling, the ‘click’, a sense of correctness. Je ne sais qoi? I tweaked the shape of the ‘Arcane ring’ and now they click! Does anyone else have this thing or just me? 😄
