I chose to dedicate this post to the Omega Speedmaster Professional MoonWatch Skylab 3 (ref.: 3597.23). Released in July 1998 for the Speedmaster’s 40th anniversary & to commemorate the 4th & final Skylab mission.
Now, I know what you’re all thinking “Jack why leave out Skylab 1 and 2?”. I’ll explain.
Skylab was actually a series of missions carried out by NASA on the Skylab orbital laboratory, & they represent NASA’s first attempt at proving humans could live & work safely in microgravity. The manned missions - Skylab 2, 3, & 4 each built upon what was learnt by the previous crew - so this limited edition watch represents everything Skylab contributed to our knowledge of space travel.
