Did you know there is a fantastic Sevenoaks gin now available from ?
Hand crafted at their microdistillery between Otford and Chevening it has a distinctly Kiwi twist as the owners Matt & Debbie, originally from the UK, recently relocated back here from New Zealand. In conjunction with their son Josh they have created a quality gin which is available both as a classic London dry and also a Navy strength.
I met them earlier this year at a supper club at and they are a fantastic couple. My hubby was very excited to be able to source gin so local to us so these made an appearance at his recent birthday celebrations! 😀
Also from each sale they will plant a tree as part of their partnership with . What could be better than enjoying a G&T knowing you've made a positive impact on the environment! 🍹🌍

On a little minibreak to celebrate hubby's birthday and we had a delicious dinner last night at thanks to a recommendation from the lovely Anne at .
The nachos were 👌 and the burgers were delicious. Their focus is on high quality local food with their meant coming from a farm just four miles away. If you pay a visit to Rye I would highly recommend it!

🍎 The apples at Castle Farm at the Hop Shop are ready! Their orchard will be open for PYO from this weekend to enjoy their famous 'Norfolk Royals' straight from the tree. This shot was from last year and it's one of our favourite late summer activities as the height of the trees are perfect for my 5 year old! The apples are absolutely delicious 😍

🍎Open this Friday 6th, Saturday 7th & Sunday 8th September from 10am - 5pm. ⁠ The orchard will then be open (weather permitting) on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays 10am - 5pm through until early October. The orchard is located behind the farm shop up the lane.

Mmm first crumble for a while! Local apples (thanks Shirley 😀) from a friend's garden and blackberries picked within a minute's walk of home. I love this time of year when the hint of autumn is starting to creep in the early morning and evenings but the days are still long and warm enough to enjoy fruit picking 🍏 What's your favourite crumble?

Ooo it feels very autumnal this morning. Sorry for the radio silence over the summer! I've been in the midst of juggling work, children, holidays and planning for .ivy.social. Plus I've not had chance to explore many foodie places. However I hope to have the chance this bank holiday to explore! What's your plans for the weekend?
Is anyone else ready though for the autumn and snuggling up with hot chocolate, fireworks 🎆 and 🎃 picking? No, just me? 😁

A of roast dinner at last weekend. Although I am all about this was a lunch in aid of talking all things wedding with my bestie who is getting married in London later this year 💗
The beef was melt in the mouth and we indulged in the bottomless brunch prosecco....it would have been rude not to 🥂😂

🍒 Kentish cherries are appearing at the local farmers shops and at pop up stalls by the roadside. Nothing says summer to me more than seeing these lovely ruby red fruits appearing everywhere 😍 Have you managed to snag some Kentish cherries yet?

🌿 ELDERFLOWER CORDIAL 🌿

The hedgerows around Kent are full of beautiful elderflower at this time of year. If you fancy foraging and creating your own cordial you will need:

2½ kg white sugar, either granulated or caster
🍋 2 unwaxed lemons
🌿 20 fresh elderflower heads, stalks trimmed
85g citric acid (from chemists)

Put the sugar and 1.5 litres/2¾ pints of water into a large saucepan. Gently heat until the sugar has dissolved. Pare the lemon zest using a peeler and then cut the lemon into rounds.

Once the sugar has dissolved, bring the syrup to the boil then turn off the hest. Gently wash the elderflower to loosen dirt and any bugs then add to the syrup along with the lemons, zest and citric acid and stir well. Cover and let it infuse for 24 hours ⏰

Line a colander with a clean tea towel then sit it over a large bowl or pan. Ladle in the syrup and let it drip through. Use a ladle and funnel to decant into sterilised bottles. The cordial can be kept for up to 6 weeks in the fridge or popped into ice cube trays and frozen. Recipe from .
