Helen Kenna Creations From about 2010 I was introduced to Precious Metal Clay (PMC) which sparked a passion for making jewellery.

I took classes in PMC and Silversmithing over a four year period and now enjoy the combination of materials and techniques from silver clay, silver-smithing including previous glass experience. All pieces are handmade in either bronze, fine silver or a mix of fine silver, sterling silver and glass. I mostly create pendants but am slowly adding earrings, brooches, bracelets and rings to my collection (I frequently slip back into pendant mode though). If you see anything that takes your fancy on my website (www.helenkennaceations.co.uk), and it is no longer available, I can produce similar pieces but not identical. It is important that no two pieces I create will ever be exactly the same.

I've continued making the different shaped birds which have been firm favourites for a good few years. All the pieces are individually hand painted after cutting the glass, and before copper foiling and soldering. Many people ask how the pictures and patterns get into the glass as they think it's sheets of glass I've cut with the imagery on it already. It's not, it's hours of painting each segment, one or two I've tried with enamel and a few others with screen printing but I love paiting with traditional glass paints which then get fired in a kiln. I have gone on to design a few different birds and my lovely new bees, flowers etc. and, of course, my new passion is creating my characters for the 'Beaky Grounder' flightless community. Gotta have a bit of fun eh? I won't lie, they take an age to see through from design to creation but I love doing them. They will all appear in a new venue that'll soon open. Keep an eye open for new posts 🎉

Elisabeth have been working on since the start of the year. It started as a Community project in Swansea Community Workshops, Swansea High Street, but that quickly became just the two of us, working on it once or twice a week. Elisabeth created the design and we used it as as way of using up the smaller pieces of scrap/cullet glass. As soon as the finishing touches have been added, look out for it in the window of Swansea Community Workshops, 208 High Street, Swansea. While your there, don't be shy - ring the bell, come in and have a look round. It's like a Tardis with rooms doing pottery, glass, woodwork and textiles. Look forward to seeing you.
