Hello everyone! Melody here from I’m taking over the Instagram this week for Trader Takeover!

How lucky am I to live and work in Porthleven! We moved back to the village after spending 17 years in Helston, and I’ve talked for many years about opening a little shop in the . It just seemed like the right time this year - Dottie also agrees!

It was the best decision, and I get to work alongside these lovely people every day, too!

Hello everyone! Melody here from I’m taking over the Instagram this week for Trader Takeover!

My favourite things to make at the moment are my earrings. I’m really enjoying creating smaller pieces, and the great thing is that they’re made using offcuts of felt from my lampshade-making.

Using the same freehand machine embroidery technique, I take elements from my original designs to create these unique, fun earrings.

I’m really looking forward to having more time to develop this range!

Hello everyone! Melody here from I’m taking over the Instagram this week for Trader Takeover!

You can find me stitching away in the corner of the shipyard, where I have my sewing machine set up so I can get all of my sewing done while I’m in the shop.

I use freehand machine embroidery to create my designs on a domestic sewing machine. I drop the feed dogs down, switch the machine on and start sewing – I don’t even know what half the buttons on my machine do! I’ve realised since opening the shop that lots of people assume I have an embroidery machine which is definitely not the case!

I do all of my rolling at home in my studio, as I need lots of space.

Hello everyone! Melody here from I’m taking over the Instagram this week for Trader Takeover!

I’ve been making lampshades for the past 15 years, and since moving back to the village this year, I decided it was the perfect time to open a little shop in the wonderful Porthleven community. It’s been the best decision ever!

You can find my freehand machine-embroidered lampshades, lanterns (which make perfect gifts), embroidered earrings and cards. I also sell my sister’s prints from ,
my mum’s baby hats from and beautiful suede and leather purses from .lowen
Everything is made locally.
