Tucked away in a workshop, Lora Leedham creates beautifully handcrafted jewellery in the heart of Birmingham’s Historic Jewellery Quarter. With over 10 years’ experience of creating bespoke handcrafted jewellery, Lora is also a fully qualified gemmologist, enabling her not only to ethically source certificated diamonds and coloured stones, but offer advice on choosing the perfect stone for your special piece. Everything is crafted to the highest standard in the workshop using silver, gold, palladium and platinum and stamped with Birmingham’s famous British hallmark.

There’s something rather special about making a piece of jewellery that you know is going to be given as a gift 🥰

This gold signet ring was commissioned by a lovely couple as a gift for their son, finished with a crab emblem traditionally hand engraved into the face.

Hand engraving is one of those beautiful traditional skills that I never want to see disappear from jewellery. No two pieces are ever quite the same, and that’s exactly the point.

Made to be worn now, but hopefully kept for a very long time ❤️

Well, look who I found hiding in the archives… 👀😂

With the new series of The Celebrity Traitors starting tonight, I thought I’d dig out this little throwback of me with one of this year’s contestants… Michael Sheen! 😂

This was around 17 years ago when I won a Prince’s Trust award (now The King’s Trust) - and apparently when I was about 22/23 years old! 😳 Where has THAT time gone?! 😂

A little bit of history for anyone who doesn’t know: I originally set up my jewellery business with the help of The Prince’s Trust as a teenager. I went on to win awards through the Trust and became their first Young Ambassador for the West Midlands, which gave me some pretty amazing experiences along the way.

Including, apparently, casually standing next to Michael Sheen. 😂

Now the important question…

A very special birthday piece for a very lovely lady 🥰

I’ve been making jewellery for Atrin for years now, so when it came to creating something to celebrate her Iranian heritage, I absolutely loved getting involved in all the little details behind the design.

Made in 18ct gold in the outline of Iran, the piece incorporates traditional symbolism and details rooted in the country’s centuries-old Persian artistic and cultural heritage.

There are pomegranates, delicate traditional detailing and Khorshid Khanum - the Persian “Lady Sun”, complete with her characteristic joined eyebrows…or, as Atrin introduced her to me, “the lady with the monobrow” 😂❤️

I genuinely learnt so much while making this piece, which is one of the things I love most about bespoke jewellery. Sometimes understanding the story and meaning behind the details becomes just as interesting as making the jewellery itself ☺️

Recreating a ring that had been missing for over 10 years… 🥹

This lovely lady had lost her ring more than a decade ago, but thankfully managed to find an old photograph of it for me to work from.

So, using that picture as my reference, I recreated it for her in gold and set it with a beautiful labradorite 💛

Not an exact copy, as we made some changes but, a new version of a much loved ring she thought she’d never see again.

This shaped wedding ring was made especially to sit around my customer’s existing engagement ring, because sometimes a straight wedding band just isn’t going to cooperate 😂

Made in gold and set with a mixture of diamonds and amethysts to tie in with her centre stone ☺️

I really love commissions like this because the wedding ring becomes part of the overall design rather than looking like something that’s simply been added afterwards 🥰

A little something for a very VIP customer… my mom! 🥰💎

I bought her the diamond for Mother’s Day so she could choose exactly what she wanted to have made with it.

She decided on a ring… and then my dad spotted an opportunity to jump in and make that part her wedding anniversary present 😂

So, between the two of us, Mom ended up with a brand new rose gold diamond ring ✨

A very simple classic solitaire, but made just for her, which makes this one a little bit extra special to me 🥰

Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold — celebrating the marks and imperfections rather than trying to hide them.

Both handmade in platinum 🤍

Hers is a delicate diamond full eternity ring, while his is a chunky 7mm band with both side walls completely set with diamonds 😍

Between the two…over 160 individually hand set diamonds 💎✨

And tucked inside his ring, their initials and wedding date ❤️

Well…after having a little bit of time off over the summer holidays, going away, having lots of fun days out…and then somehow reaching the point where my daughter has now started HIGH SCHOOL 😳🥹😂 …I am officially back in the workshop as normal!!

And I have to admit…there is definitely a little bit of relief in having some sort of normality and routine back again 😂

Although, her new school start time is 7.45am 😳 which sounds absolutely horrendous…BUT…there is actually a positive to this!

It means I’ll be getting into the workshop earlier…which means I now have even more time in the day to make sparkly things 😃💎✨

I’m currently trying to catch up on what feels like approximately 947 emails, texts, online messages, voicemails and everything else I seem to have accumulated while I’ve been off 🙈😂 so if you’re waiting for a reply from me, please bear with me…I am slowly working my way through everything! ☺️

And in the meantime…I thought I’d share this rather unusual and beautiful ring 😃

Made in 22ct gold and set with diamonds 💛💎

22ct gold isn’t something I get to work with all the time, and it has such a lovely rich, almost buttery yellow colour to it…especially next to diamonds 😍

Anyway…back to the emails, the bench…and apparently my new life of very early morning starts 😃😂✨
