Stay cool out there! It is an absolute scorcher in Warwick this week, and while we are doing our best to beat the heat, we’re also looking out for our most delicate sparkling residents.

If you peer into our front window over the next few days, you might notice a few empty spaces. Don't worry—they haven't gone far!

We’ve safely tucked our heat-sensitive gemstones away in the shade to protect them from the extreme sunlight.

☀️ Summer Care Tips for Your Own Jewellery
While you're applying the sunscreen, don't forget that your jewellery might need a little extra TLC in this 30°C+ weather.

Heres some examples on how to keep your precious pieces safe during the heatwave:

Opals: These stunning stones naturally contain a small amount of water. Extreme heat and dry air can cause them to dehydrate and crack (a process called "crazing"). Keep them somewhere cool and out of direct sunlight.

Amethyst & Quartz: Intense, prolonged sunlight acts like bleach on certain gems. Amethyst, rose quartz, and smoky quartz can actually lose their beautiful, vibrant colours if left to bake in the sun.

Pearls: As organic gems, pearls are incredibly delicate. High heat can dry them out, causing the nacre to crack or split. Furthermore, the specialized glue often used to secure pearls into their settings can soften and loosen in extreme heat, risking a lost pearl!

General Rule: If you're heading to the beach, pool, or just sunbathing in the garden, it’s best to leave your fine jewellery safely at home. Sunscreen, sweat, and chlorine are NOT a precious metal and gemstone's best friend!
